Did anyone have Saffie getting popped for Amicar in May in the Doping Pool?
Several other potential payoffs.

Servis continues to fight the wiretap evidence.
I would love to know if the Feds are done handing out deals and this is his only option.
This amount of lawyering can't be cheap.

Anyone else see AP card for today?
105 horses for 9 races. I've never seen that type of card for many, many years.
Everyone wants one last chance to saddle at AP, I guess.

Shouldn't it conclude:
"on somebody else's horse"? ;)

Great article by Natalie Voss of the Paulick Report.

Here's the most interesting part for me:
Navarro: But also the head of security was looking for me, he's a good friend of mine, so I think he was going to tell me too
Well, that certainly adds some spice to the investigation.
We're only in ACT I of this play.

Other trainers respond to the plea.
From polite to scathing.

Other trainers may be key.
Seems the Feds have enough to get convictions on the 27 perps identified.
Navarro would need to offer something extra.

Once one rat starts squealing, the rest start.
Only a couple cooperating parties needed in the investigation and Navarro has taking the last seat left on the Federal life raft.
There is now a cooperating veterinarian and trainer. Seems like that's all we need.
Let the show begin!

From Paulick Report report.
It's licensed bookies. Approximately 30 parties interested in taking wagers.
Next question: Will a portion of these bets go to purses?

Based on the name of the wagering, the odds can't change on bets made. Can they?

Regardless if he gets the name, he's going to get the win. This guy looks to have an A+ game of self promotion.
Bad Test Bob is a little too on the nose. Perhaps if he were to name horses after the excuses?

Still no results from the Medina split sample.
Is there a reason why both can't be sent to different labs at the same time?
What am I missing?
<edit>
Read in the Courier Journal that Baffert gets to select the lab used and he's dragging his feet. I think the sample could degrade with time potentially giving a negative result.

Not very specific on what was discovered, but 9 horses ordered scratched by the stewards.

I proposed this concept many years ago to much resistance. Maybe it's time to try again.
If Baffert is found guilty, punish him as you will. But, hit his owner(s) just as hard, if not harder.
Any horse they own is banned for 60-90-120 days, regardless if it tested positive or not. Regardless if another trainer has the horse. The owner gets shut out as long as the trainer.

I was an owner/breeder in Chicago in the late 90's when slots at the track first came up. I believe it was 95 or 96 when I attended a meeting of IL horsemen and DD. Meeting was led by Mike Campbell. Not sure if here were ITHA president at the time.
Here was the sticking point on why slots didn't proceed. Horsemen wanted to know what their cut of the deal would be and that Arlington w

I expect it will happen soon. If you look at paragraph 26b of the indictment against the pharmacy, it lists 14 states they shipped the drugs too. Included were CA, KY, TX, IN, OH and others.
I think between now and the Derby, sh!t's going to get real and and rain down heavily on some deserving cheats.

I've read the indictments and can connect all the players, know what the crimes were. What I can't get from them is how much of this stuff was made and who makes how much money each step of the way?
Can anyone break down the economics and suggest a scale?

Seems like it couldn't be anything too serious in the medication department if Rene was using. They informed him during the middle of the day and let him finish out the card. If they suspected Rene was taking anything that had a chance to impair him they would have pulled him immediately.

More from The Bloodhorse:
Most interesting is the second paragraph of the piece:
'Meanwhile, Calder management has enacted a "house rule" designed to strengthen existing state regulations on the use of medication.'
I'm guessing Rene is fighting some weight issues.

From the DRF, Rene got an immediate and indefinite suspension from Calder for an unspecified offense.
Anyone hear what the actual deed was that caused the ban?
thanks.
