Re: EVERYBODY KNOWS... - 2 years ago
I think people are reading too much into this. Trainer has no history of jump ups, and highly unlikely to try something new at one of the most scrutinized events of the year. I would think “super trainers” unlikely to be using in preps given the scrutiny around the sport recently. Not an expert, so it’s possible, but would think people are pretty fearful and on best behavior. Horse ran a 9 laby Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Re: Mattress Mac - 2 years ago
Think of Mac’s betting as a marketing expense. He presumably gets a lot of business offering this money back deal, and hedges his exposure by betting the favorite. While it probably benefits him if the favorite wins, in terms of generating additional interest in the promo next year, I think it’s a wash financially, at least in the short term. So, in other words, not really a bad beat, althoughby Bet Twice - Ask the Experts

Re: Breeders Cup Post Mortem - 3 years ago
Point taken, but my underlying point was the horse was a pretty clear standout from a TG perspective. While there may or may not be PEDs involved, this race doesn’t really standout as a good example.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts

Re: Max Player - 3 years ago
I’d be surprised to see him improve, given he’s already improved by ~6 points from 3 to 4. That said, it’s a nice pattern and a pair up probably puts him in the exotics, depending on trip. I probably won’t use him on top, but think he could get a piece.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Re: 2021 BC Pre-Entries Available Now - 3 years ago
As you have done in prior years, can you please provide the full card once drawn to those buying the pre-entry package? It makes it much easier to handicap on a tablet using one file in PP order.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Redboard room - Hollywood Talent - 3 years ago
I didn’t bet the card, but took a look at the race after the fact, with the 108-1 winner. Certainly seems like he could have been used with the back 3’s and at the weights. Congrats to anyone who used him.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Re: Mejia a fan of Penn & Teller ? - 3 years ago
Sorry to offend your sensibilities, but trainers have literally gotten away with murder and gotten nothing. A presumably poor person gets his career taken away for a first offense. Im sure the owner/trainer knew nothing! As far as animal abuse, it’s funny what we consider abuse and what we don’t. I agree he should be punished but will stand by 10+ years being harsh. Apologies for havingby Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Re: Mejia a fan of Penn & Teller ? - 3 years ago
Fair. It just seems harsh to take away someone’s livelihood for 10+ years, but I guess that would be the case with any felony, at least to some extent. I guess the mental disconnect for me is an action occurring during a sport doesn’t typically carry those types of ramifications. See Brady/Belichick.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Re: Mejia a fan of Penn & Teller ? - 3 years ago
I agree that cheaters need to be removed from the game, but if this is the first offense, 10 years with a request for a lifetime ban seems a bit harsh. It would seem a year would send the appropriate message.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts

If price is a concern, you can go further south to Latham or Wold Road in Colonie, which is very close to ALB airport. All major chains have properties, and is roughly 30 minutes to the track.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts

Re: Haskell DQ - 3 years ago
I thought the rule was that they could use it for safety reasons? If Prat felt that there was a safety concern, he could have, in fact, “hit him once on the left sideâ€. Maybe making that decision in a split second is not realistic, given the fact that you are mentally telling yourself “I can’t use the cropâ€. Re: Graph notations explanation - 3 years ago
1) yes, same thing. I think years ago a turf race was represented by a single dash, but at some point that changed to two small dashes. Guessing it may have been a change to the database or such. 2)That indicates a negative number. A 1—-is faster than a 0, a 2—-is faster than a 1––, etc…… 3)Same as #2. Seems redundant, but maybe it’s meant to ensure it stands out. A negativeby Bet Twice - Ask the Experts

I’d be all over Following Sea if he didn’t scream sprinter based on the sire stats and his siblings. Still could end up stealing it, but I’d want more than 4-1 to find out. Good luck!by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Re: (Chi): All the way from China? - 3 years ago
Agree that the inside scoop is a nice bonus, but can’t fault wives of trainers who are on TV from keeping quite about how their husbands horses are doing. Feels a bit like insider training. I would think they need to walk a fine line of evaluating the horses in front of them while showing some impartiality to the trainers. I’m a fan.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts

Re: Summer in the Backyard - 3 years ago
Yes, agreed on it being quite a perk. The ability to “picnic†on the lawn is one of the things that have always made it popular for us locals. I’ve been going since I was 6. That place has brought more new blood into the sport that anywhere else.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts

I believe he was responding to Strike, not you. Agree that was not a jump up by any stretch of the phrase. The horse improved 2 points off of pairing his tops.....as a 3 year old.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Re: Here we go. - 3 years ago
Regardless of what he did or didn't do, the horses sheet does not stand out as unusual. A 3rd old in May, who has been pairing tops, is not unlikely to move forward at some point. A 2 point new top is hardly a smoking gun.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Re: I'll bet my money on the bobtail nag, somebody bet on the grey - 3 years ago
Not angry Jerry, annoyed with a self-consumed joker who shows up every year and claims credit for something that he doesn’t deserve. I went in on a tri with a few people just to have a rooting interest, so not really sour at my whopping $27 loss. Just calling out bullshit when I see it.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
Re: I'll bet my money on the bobtail nag, somebody bet on the grey - 3 years ago
As I said, setting yourself up for the redboard victory dance. What happened to going on the record with the horses you liked? You say bet against the favorite, which probably ninety percent of this board did and some vague reference to not tossing Medina, which was also not rocket science. Why don’t you post a screenshot of your big score or crawl back under your rock until next year.by Bet Twice - Ask the Experts
