What are the odds of a Triple Crown winner this year?
Zero, Mandaloun is not running.
Why is he not attempting it? He's not a one-hit wonder like Country House. Nor is Cox anything like Mott.

Irony:
Cox gets the Derby win via a failed drug test?
Karma:
BB nailed for one thing he didn't do?
Clarity:
Test is picograms per milliliter of blood.
Infinity:
Detected amount divided by allowable level.
Justify:
No justifying this as a "Garbage Test" since it applies to all.

Disagree with hard line against NCAA. The college boys here haven't trained and rehabbed all year to sit on their arse. They want to play. "Don't need some dude in a suit and a tie telling me no". Their words, not mine... Play ball and run the ponies w/o live spectators.
Perhaps you can make an argument for oppo lawsuits... taking away their livelihood. Always gonna be negli

Great, lets make sure the shysters and pettifoggers keep working. That's more scandalous and problematic than the racing cheats. Ambulance chasers will file suit for vaccine injury AND now you say they will also file if somebody simply contracts the virus? In other words, deep pockets are always negligent. (no need to point out that corona has no current vaccine and is less understood). It

I misread the news. At first glance, I thought it said Baffert was going to "Maximum Security". But then I realized that Bob is completely innocent. Besides, this is all white collar crime that can be adjudicated with fines and country clubs.

Can we now take the asterisk off of Country House? And take the moron label off the stewies that made the Derby DQ? As always, the real m

Those who think it was merely race riding will be the first to cry foul next year when TAP has 5 entered in the Derby and he turns it into a rodeo. Since the stewards took no action, the ride was clearly legit... but IMO it sets a piss poor precedent. All thoroughbred owners should boycott Frenchie for a year! Of course that is a joke, since we all know that there is zero collaboration in this in

Is that really what I said? Not a great reading on your part, TPeck. I asked for thoughts AFTER the race. Absolutely nothing to do with wagering. No sour grapes either, since I got the sheets but not the seminar. Seems like all but a few on this board think of their responses before they even read the GD post.
JB graciously provided his POST-Derby numbers and as I looked them over, I saw two h

how about offering up your thoughts .
Pretty straightforward, unlike the two non-answers.

So, even though they ran much better than expected, there’s nothing to discuss because you would play it the exact same way in a hypothetically identical seminar in the future? I.e., the slop and hot pace and trainer m.o. explain the jump ups but can never be predicted a priori, so just forget about it and move on to the next race?
Perhaps I am asking the wrong question...

JB, instead of checking out the other guys, how about offering up your thoughts on the two E horses that ran the 3rd (tied) and 4th best numbers. Slop and pace have to be contributors to the big unexpected jumps... wondering if anything else occurs to you in hindsight?

Any chance you went to Emerson Elementary? I would walk over to Tropical Park after school to watch races from outside the fence near the chute on the grandstand side. Early 1960s!

Same request went unanswered last year. That's why I didn't consider using them this year. Surprising, since TG is usually so prompt with responses.

You got me. Guess I'm just a deplorable racist who thinks all Asians are the same. The Japanese horse in the F&M Turf runs without it, as do most (if not all) Japanese horses running over here. Still, Yellow Agate is not listed with Lasix in the official program or the TwinSpires program.
The Chinese government views racing and wagering as decadent, if not downright corrupt and deplor

I don't think a horse owned by the China Horse Club would run on Lasix. I believe they want to legalize racing and wagering in China, and doping a horse would set a bad precedent.

Latest news. I also do not care for the F&M Sprint placement, but the Sprint only has 9 pre-entered while the F&M Sprint will draw a full field that will lead to a larger pool.
$4 million Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf (3:22 p.m.)
$1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (4:01)
$2 million Breeders’ Cup Mile (4:40 p.m.)
$6 million Breeders' Cup Classic (5:35 p.m.).

Lots of advocates on this board for lowering takeout rates. Increase in churn is supposed to be beneficial in the long-run for the racetrack economy.
Surely those same people support the Republican idea of lowering tax rates for the same reasons? Even the name fits: Clueless (Clinton) Clowns.

Hardly a stretch to question Chad's success last year or to predict his success at the Spa this year. Gotta love Miff's 2015 response:
Chad Brown, by MANY account at Belmont, cannot win as frequently with long running turfers, off layoffs or firsters, without help...f-king impossible

Looks like horsegoer was either banned or voluntarily removed himself.
Good to see that I am not the only one who thinks it was harsh and unwarranted treatment; see the last paragraph by TheBull.

If you don't track your results, then you are like a guy in FL that owns a boat. You have a hobby that provides you with enough entertainment that the cost is irrelevant and something you would rather not track. However, in racing the IRS doles out W-2G's and even withholds for major scores, so you should at least be tracking results to make the appropriate deductions in April. I’d say

Considering all of the other nonsense posted in the last few days, I'd say people here do want to read more of this. Might be a first for TGJB, as I don't recall him ever backing down before.

IMO, Doug thought he had a 'Pharoah clone and gave instructions for a wire job. Afterwards he said he didn't think he could be beat, implicitly confirming that it was his tactical decision. Not sure if he underestimated the pace ability of 'Lino, or if he respected it enough to go early to prevent a runaway. Either way, I don't see how Mario deserves the brunt of the criticism

I'd guess they also had the FL Derby faster than TG. A lot of sore players on this board, including me, had little respect for Nyquist after seeing his TG number going into KY. Perhaps a lot of residual doubt based on that GP figure?

Declaring your Wood figures as unassailable does not address your pre-Derby comparisons to the FG and Meydan races (esp, Tom's Ready and Lani). Will wait for a look at the post-Derby numbers before I comment further.

When you finish with your Derby analysis, I hope you comment on the "Holy Crap" thread you started.
On the surface, the results tell a different story.
They had Wood horses slower and they finished slow in 14th, 16th, and DNF.
They had FG horses faster and one finished in a respectable 3rd. The others in 8th (w/ trouble), and 12th.
Not sure how or why you made any compa
