Only surprise for me was the figure Beholder got. In a race that contentious, I could not imagine her winning the way she did, let alone getting back to her top which she hadn't run in a year......How does Mandella do it?????

All but 3 horses (the winner, the last place finisher and the #4 horse) went off at odds higher than the ML, with 2nd place finisher at 27-1 - up from 10-1 ML. I see your point, Miff.

I witnessed the whole thing on TVG. Horse in question (#6) was 30-1 ML opened at 8-5 and finished last. The winner (#5) was the postime favorite and won. Why can't this just be a screwup on the part of the bettor (bet the wrong horse and corrected it when he/she found the mistake)??
Now if you want to talk about Mountaineer, that's a different story.

From DRF:
In hindsight, McGaughey felt the rail post did hurt Orb’s chances. Since 1961, there has been only one horse – the D. Wayne Lukas-trained Tabasco Cat in 1994 – to win from the rail.
“When I look at it now, it probably did hurt us because we couldn’t get him out,” McGaughey said. “I think he probably would have had a little more clear shot than he had today.”

I think the best horse won, but Castellano moved a bit too soon, cost him 3rd, maybe 2nd.

I opened a twin spires acoount 2 weeks ago so I could enjoy the benefits of wagering from living room downs. Up until about an hour ago, I was quite pleased.

Good thing I bet the Wise Dan/Normany DDD last night.I have a $20 ticket. I think it's paying $30.00. ($300.00) which would get me out with a small profit for the 2 days.

Donna Brothers did a good piece on the best part of track. Rail or 7 path is the place to be.

Handled yielding fine, always runs a neg fig, one horse to his outside at the break - perfect gate position - no neg fig runners here if I recall. Was not hard used in last. Jock lucks out retaining mount on HOY which helps the price a little. Even money is a square price on this one in this situation, but I love NI and the double is going to pay $40.00 or more. It's not every day you can co

Ok, thanks very much boss!
I thought she was a rare betting opportunity (fastest horse in history).... at that price.(8-5). Even though I lost a large bet here, I was NOT surprised by the winner. Had I been paying closer attention to the tote, I could have easily saved my ass with a small win bet.
I look forward to the final figs for this race. She had to bounce 9-10 points. I'm booki

Playing the devils advocate here in an effort to understand:
I have had a pain in the neck about the 3/30 figs at GP. I think the route figs on Florida Derby day might be too fast by about 2 points.
Still, the horses you mention, one of whom was a clear bet (Authenticity) with adjusted figs, and another a good bet (TCI) would still be no surprise to have won today as their adjusted figs (ma

If this horse, the fastest horse in TG history, a horse with an 8 point leeway for jock screwup, another jock shutting us off, horse just stumbling and losing 4 at the start(she broke fine, BTW, but got shut off AFTER the start), we still win this race by 1-4 lenghths. Off that neg 8, she clearly bounced to the moon. I'd be surprised by anything faster than a zero on the part of the winner,

I though Flat Out had hoof issues and he looks like a horse that favors a wet Belmont strip. But I agree with you on the stamina of Game, Macho and Ft Larned, my 3 picks to win the race.

Nobody said anything - until after the race when Richie Migliore said she looked like she might have tied up - that she was dragging her rear end in the post parade rather than pushing off it.

I think the home court advantage is a huge edge here this year, and look at those raw times put up by Obviously. Not many here who can run a sub 132 mile. Thinking he'll wire this field.
