Do not know his LA Derby figure, but from what I am reading it is probably slow (relative to others) going in to the KD. Wish he would race again in three weeks with the hope that he would move closer figure-wise. Although some have done it, tough to get that big jump for the win in the KD, in particular with only five lifetime races.

I noticed that the turn information is in italics. Was that day done with live ground? Thanks.

Hollinger has a nice pattern and may be sitting on a new top. Has a race in Florida, gets Johnny V. and Attfield has been hitting of late.
Guys Reward has a back number to get back to. 2nd off the layoff with the 1st off the layoff in Florida. 1 1/16 rather than 1 1/2 and 1 3/16 probably more to his liking.
Alot of horses figure here. Many horses with back numbers to run to (Yummy, Mamb

1993 was before my Thorograph time - and not even sure there were any Euro numbers for him - but I am curious what his sheet looked like. Any chance you can post it assuming there were numbers prior to the Classic? Thanks.

Telling - 14 years ago
Congratulations to all that hit Telling yesterday.
I did not - I keyed Brass Hat - and was curious as to why people liked him on TG. He had a nice set of 3's to run back to, but his numbers and form this year appeared flat with no indication of a recovery line or forward move.
Thanks.

Notice on the new Equibase entries - in addition to the Lasix identifier there is an A and sometimes an A* - I assume this is for "adjunct medication" and whether it is first-time usage.
What is "adjunct medication?"

As my key horse, I was ticked off to see him 7 wide struggling off the turn in the slop, especially after the rail trip in the early part of the race. Getting bumped out of the place was just more salt to the wound.
That said, I have never seen a complete overhead shot to see why Coa came off the rail and to what extent during the far turn. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he was mak

Anyone know of a good information source that talks about horses running well in the Derby and the strength of their workouts leading up to the Derby.
I like Musket Man alot, but hearing alot of negative commentary on his workouts and appearance.
Thanks.

Agreed. But sometimes there are aberrations. He could be an outlier as it relates to his pedigree, etc.. It all boils down to the risk/reward quotient. Good luck this weekend.

Didn't Smarty and Funny Cide have similar TGI's?

Agree on Musket Man. No bounces in his pattern. Pattern contains a nice trip tops before the move up in the Illinois Derby. Look in the archives for 3YO's that establish a new top off a paired or trip tops - alot of pairing of the new top/some move forward - Silver Charm, Funny Cide, Fusiachi....

Thanks for the info. That is one funky first turn.
Tough to like Desert Party given those slow 2YO figs and just one funky two-turn race. But he has won 4 of 6 and has a solid number going in. With the addition of Lasix, may have to use underneath.

Is Desert Party's last considered a one-turn or two-turn race? I assume the first two in 2009 were definitely one-turn races

Well said.
From a gambling perspective, I am trying to learn and adapt. Have had my ups and downs, and did get my head handed to me over the weekend. Always too quick to dismiss the turf to synthetic switch.
From a horse racing fan perspective, I am disappointed that I will never how Curlin would have ran if it were a conventional dirt surface.
I should have known after watching Music

IMO, tough to play at the expected odds given she is coming off her top at one mile going a distance she has never gone before on short rest.
