1) Horseplayers: Clean up the game! All of this cheating is a travesty!
2) Trainer gets busted.
3) Horseplayers: Not that guy! Why him? It was poppyseeds/an ointment/the groom's fault. Why don't they get Trainer X instead?
4) Horse racing industry: Shakes its head, returns to ignoring cheating.
Baffling.

Since he already tweeted that he accepts the ruling, I'm thinking no.

One of the strangest, most contradictory things among horseplayers is the constant, never-ending complaining about move-up horses, it's the Wild West out there, the huge unexplained improvements in horses off the claim, horses rebreaking, trainers with horses that have endless stamina, when are they going to clean up the game, we need federal regulation....and then when someone gets busted,

That same attitude is why we're in the situation we're in.

This is the kind of stat that it's almost best to keep on your own. Sometimes you see a trainer succeed with that "equipment change" and then not have another horse in that situation for a year. If you had stats saying 100% winners, everyone would see it, but if you have it in your notes but not listed in the PPs you'd be better off.

I don't think that chart is accurate past the present day. Pimlico has a coronavirus testing center in its parking lot, so I doubt they're running this weekend. The chart has Mountaineer running Sunday the 10th, yet their Twitter says they're restarting on May 31st. Golden Gate is still closed and isn't running on the 9th. Penn National and Parx are listed as running the follo

One thing to keep in mind as far as Oaklawn, too, is that these contracts are negotiated in advance. Oaklawn didn't know 90% of other tracks would be closed, so they couldn't negotiate with the ADWs with the stance they'd be the only game in town.
It's the same reason why everyone raving about how Fonner Park must be rolling in money now that they're handling $3 mil

I'm not sure there's a realistic plan that has racing continuing without a break. I'm not a doctor or nurse but I work with/for a bunch of them and they've been right so far. So I'll speculate a bit too based on what I've heard.
I can't see any sport resuming in full without daily/regular tests, or at least a test and then you stay on site once you test negat

There will be very little to bet on after this weekend, so it shouldn't be a problem.

And that's the type of attitude that is leading to the disaster we have coming up. "Let me do what I want" is how we all get sick at once, hospitals are overwhelmed, and people start dying of other treatable conditions because there is no treatment.

The best wager anyone here could make would be to book the bets of anyone who thinks there will be still be racing in the New York City area on May 2nd.

As we saw from the Derby moving to September, all scheduling and business considerations are out the window. Right now best-case scenario is that these races take place at all this year.

Richie, I would say elderly and infirm are most likely to be KILLED by the virus, but anyone can carry it and infect others. Hence the worldwide shutdown we are headed towards.

As far as racing getting cleaned up, who knows, but this is an actual step in the RIGHT direction. For once, something is happening. Maybe it goes nowhere but this could be big.
Racing's image with the public couldn't be much lower than it is now. This won't help any, but it's also a blip on the radar in the current disaster that is the world. Most people don't care ab

You can give Servis whatever praise you want for handling the horse because he deserves it, but plenty of "suspicious" trainers have gone to Dubai or Saudi Arabia and won "drug free". Proves nothing on that front.

Do you mean just in California? I understand that this was the last thing anyone wanted (though you knew it would happen because it's the way things have gone at Santa Anita), but you expect all of horse racing and $12 billion a year in wagering to end because of this additional breakdown?

Larry Collmus called the races on NBC, just like it was for years where you would hear Durkin on NBC but the usual track announcer through the track feed.

Awful for all the people losing their jobs, some great contributors too. However, no one can be surprised DRF has fallen on hard times. If you have a struggling industry, the media covering that industry will also lose business. That's why most boxing magazines now cover MMA, kickboxing, etc. to keep the lights on.

If the Derby is the 6th at Parx today, the horse comes down. You can think there should never be any DQs, or that herding should be allowed no matter the safety issue, but if there are rules then that was an easy DQ.
