We all understand that ground loss is a significant factor in making your sheet figures. There are multiple ways for ground loss to occur. Racing wide on a turn is clearly one of them. And the one most often discussed. But making the rail from a 12 hole start is also clearly one of ways to lose ground as well. Bearing out, or lugging in, in the stretch is also clearly one way. Swinging out, or sw

By the way, the same math would apply equally to swingin IN as swinging OUT in the stretch (or backstretch for that matter).

Orientate is clearly the best sprinter going right now for whatever reason. Will make the BC Sprint a very difficult race to play.

What if Lukas trains him up to the BC? Would you still think he is a strong bet-against?
What if he runs him one more time and he Xs? Would he still be a strong bet-against?

Mall, where did you get these jockey quotes about the condition of the track?
'Although there was nothing in the DRF on Sun, virtually all of the jocks & trainers agreed that despite the listing, the turf was definitely not firm on Sat. Kent D. went so far as to say it would have been rated as ylding in SoCal, while most others said it was what most trks would rate as good. The give in

Thanks.
All I saw on the Del Mar site was their chat room exchange with Steve Wood. Is that the one you're referring to? I scanned through that one but didn't see anything particularly enlightening. Did I miss something?

A while back someone posted some comments regarding how some California track (I think it might have been Hollywood) changed speeds during one particular day. I think the comments came from someone involved with track maintenance. Was 'Bruno' the name? I didn't make a copy of the original post. Could someone please repost it. Or point me to the original post in the archives. This t

There are several others with separate strings (Subject: Contest Entry). Check for JimP, derby1592, and Michael D with entries.
There may be others that I missed.

I saw your short lived post on the other board where you began an explanation of how you read patterns. Why don't you repost it here. Maybe it would stick around long enough to get a discussion started.

Hey guys, as best I can understand the TG and Rags processes, they both depend on the ASSUMPTION that past is predictive of the future. TG uses the 'past'

Lone Star on Monday is a good example of a track where the variant must have been changing all day. The day started with the sun shining, a light south wind, and the track fast. In the middle of the program a storm blew in and rain began to fall. Apparently expecting more rain (and they were right) the track maintenance crew appeared to seal the track. (At least they were dragging some sort of he

Or it could be just less and then less and then less. Or it could be more and then more and then more. Depends on how much water is being added each time and how rapid the evaporation is taking place. And even more importantly what does less or more moisture mean to how fast the horses can run. I bet no one has ever measured any of these conditions.

I was impressed with the race. WE ran the first 3/4 in about the same time as Snow Ridge earlier in the program and still had enough left to hold off all the late chargers. Was anybody gaining on him at the end (other than Magic Weisner)?

Looks like any horse that gets 190 or more points can't win. And any horse that gets 185 points will win. That eliminates Saarland and Perfect Drift. And puts Medaglio d'Oro, Request For Parole, and Easy Grades in a dead heat for first.

I checked the Norfolk. The fractions were
23+4 47+4 1:11+1 1:37. A moderate pace according to the pace figures I have. EOD stalked the pace about 3 lengths back and then closed well along the inside. The way I calculate EOD's last quarter he closed in around 25 seconds (maybe a little less) not 26. Not outstanding, but not terrible either.

David, when you're listing your first tier and second tier, don't forget about Belterra, Tempera, Imperial Gesture, You, Habibti, and Bella Belucci, as well as take Charge Lady. I am of the opinion that the fillies are better than the colts this year. We don't have current figures on all these yet but when we do I think they will top the colts. I think if you constructed a 14 horse

Isn't it strange how two people can easily sit across the table from one another and argue all day about a subject like handicapping? Without calling each other names. Put those same two people on a bulletin board and within minutes the name calling begins. An interesting study in psychology.

I didn't see your earlier post so I wasn't directing mine at anything you said. And your point is a good one. But I still like the job that Hennig has done with her. He has put together a winning streak of 6 races with her. Has the black type. I don't know what the value of this filly is right now but it must be substantial. That might be more important that the purse money she

This has been one of the best jobs of spotting a horse in the right races that I think I have ever seen. Summer Colony has looked good since that dynamite Maiden win, but Hennig has been an absolute master at finding the perfect spots to run her. I've been impressed by his handling.
