Although I have noticed a subtle affect on final odds perhaps due in part to TG and or sheets numbers or analysis-This years KD with horses like Perfect Drift is I believe a good example, I still never ever ever have seen anybody else but me either on track, mostly Saratoga and the occasional trip back down to the city) or at any Capitol OTB looking at any kind of sheets. Maybe they all left the

IMO, One race does or should not make or break a horses reputation. It's a long year and whatever happens June 8th. It's just one performance. But if WE runs another 1 or better with thoese bone chips we'll I just don't know... just hope he'll be around.

Yes Ibn has a good chance tomorrow. If he fires a new top and he should, he's right there. Been working exceptionally well also. Against him in addition to the obvious no wins is Godolphin runners haven't been doing well over here yet albeit with limited starters. And will you get value? Not likely with Bailey up and with no monsters in the field. Until he actually wins a race dema

Been around everyday but I haven't had much to say since May 4th. I was riding a very profitable 6 month winning streak going back to Breeders Cup Day. I could do no wrong all winter. We've all been there. That all changed starting on Derby Day. Anyway...I figure I'd join in on this Essence of Dubai thread. The first thing I would like to know is, out of the entire UAE Derby fie

Not that it matters much...or does it. According to an article on the Thoroughbred Times site. Geez, leave it to Bob Baffert. So can we have the TG sheet for Dan pleeze. Just for kicks.

Imperial Gesture has raced twice this year in Dubai winning both times and beating Tempara in her last just 3 weeks ago. See my previous post from earlier today under the Frankie Dettori thread for more about her.

I'm not one to give much consideration to jockey's when handicapping. There is just too much speculation and unknowns when it comes to why and when which jocks ride which horses. Just look at what Bailey's doing, jumping off Mott's improving Blue Burner and riding Castle. My guess is (see I told you trying to figure out jockey decisions are guesses) he's positioning him

Yes, no info of this kind for EOD, Castle or Joburg. I'm leaning towards tossing Joburg and using the other two along w PD and Blue Burner. These 4 will be in my Oaks/Derby double with Imperial Gesture as my single in the Oaks. Haven't and likely won't finalize any other derby wagers til close to post. But I'm already in OK shape with win bets in pool 3 on PD,EOD and Castle.

Based on your 2 criteria You are talking about Perfect Drift? Based on his last race final fractions and his LP BRIS number and definately his TG pattern fits. You could be talking about that under-achieving Saarland who will also be overbet. How'd I do?

Agreed. I think RFP has run as good as he's gonna get. If anything he'll regress and I don't need to make a win wager on him Saturday cause I have him in pool 3 of the futures along w Perfect Drift, Castle & my top choice EOD. Hope whatever infection Tempara had won't affect the other two Godolphin runners in the barn. It happens, You get one sick horse in the barn and it

I thought so but you didn't let on in your post. So if we like PD should we also like RFP. Blue Burner is another fitting a nice gradual improving pattern-any thoughts on him? Looks to be heading for going off at a big price.

I almost don't want to post anything today. Yes it is really sad news about Tempara.
Treadhead can you add more info about your opinion on Perfect Drift. To me this horse has a great pattern based on TG numbers. Running well last year-improving and not running too fast too early. Continued Moving forward 1st out this year with a new top again not popping a big number but moving forward s

And you have a trainer change from O'Brien in the race summary for J'burg. Geez, @ $25.00 a pop you guys can hire a proofreader/editor.

You have the trainer listed as Wilson Brown instead of Aidan O'Brien. I'm guessing its a type-o and the trainer stats are for O'Brien? please let me know if the trainer stats are for O'Brien.

I am looking for some valid reasons to toss Johannasburg and narrrow down my selections. The final odds will likely make my decision for me. If Johannasburg is overbet-and I don't know at this early date what I will consider overbet-then he's a toss. My fear is that's exactly what I did BC day and he beat me! I realize Derby day is a very different situation so hopefully I will

Your comments about EOD's races this year have merit and that's why I'd love to have TG numbers for them-we'll see. I'm drawing a line right thru EOD's BC race and considering it an effort to bad to be a true indication of how he will run in the derby. To me the Norfolk was a better race than the final time indicates and I guess as fastspeed mentioned the Byer and T

Big time! I will very likely place a sweet win bet on Essence as well as using both of O'Brien's horses with Essence in exacta's and some tri wagers which I rarely place. Oh if there will be a Oaks derby double offered thnis year I'll use the 2 Godolphin filly's.
I'm praying they will all be overlooked.
With Essence I have one question to be answered which won

Ok folks help me out here. First the obvious question for treadhead. What criteria did you consider that leads you to be confident that Buddah will be a good example of an 0-2-X pattern next out rather than make a forward move? Which leads into what I really want to discuss. What are some indications you folks look for when deciding a particular horse will make a relativly big move forward and p

I praying for lots more people who agree with you. Essence of Dubai arrived yestarday along with Tempara & Imperial Gesture. You have two questions already answered with this colt. Distance and class. IMO the same can be said of Castle Gandolfo. How many others in the field can you say the same about? The only question w Johannasburg is distance. He's certaintly classy enough and he

An honest discussion about what? Your questions and or statements may be just a little too vague to get any useful responses. As far as your original questions IMO figures are a useful tool all year long not just the fall. I don't have a clue what you mean by "The numbers being dynamite this spring". Again numbers are a tool to be used as part of handicapping and it still takes s

The dirt surface at Nad Al Sheba was completely re-done back the year before Wordly Manner ran in the derby in 99. The 2 tracks they used to model the new surface after is Churchill and The Fair Grounds. Nad Al Sheba may very well be the most similar track in the world to Churchill's.
I don't know what if anything was done to the training surface over at Godolphin's Al Quoz train

Godolphins' Kentucky Derby & Oaks bound horses are leaving Dubai on the 17th. As a general rule I have no problems with nor do I see any reasons why the ship from Dubai comprimises a horses opportunity to run to its ability. They are loaded onto a temprature controlled cargo container that's loaded into a plane and my understanding is they basically sleep thru the flight. Nothing

It's all about value. One hell of a value wager was Perfect Drift in Pool 2 where he closed @ 91-1. I took much less on him in Pool 3. On Derby Day I'll still be looking for value and hoping that Essence or Castle gets overlooked. Essence is one of my Godolphin 7 stars so I'm in for a
$ 150,000.00 first prize and 7 days and nights in Dubai next March.

Well the current odds for Essence of Dubai in Pool 3 is 15-1 and since he's not running the odds may stay around that area. To me he's an underlay in pool 3 and I'll likely pass. I also believe he will be overbet come derby day. He'll be the only horse to have run and won a Group 2 going 1 1/4 miles against a big field that in my opinion had some talented horses running. Fr

For what its worth. The dirt track at Nad Al Sheba was re-surfaced 3 or 4 years ago with the goal of duplicating two US tracks Churchill and The Fair Grounds. Hoping to get the 12-1 ML odds on Bonapaw. The connections have had this race in mind since the fall.
Anybody heard anything negative or positive about how Bonapaws' been doing in Dubai? Been visiting the world cup and Godolphin

I read and still have both books mentioned The Body Language of Horses by Bonnie Ledbetter and Horses Talk It Pays to Listen by Parker. I still pull them out to read over again both are good introductory books on this subject. They are what got me started on using pre-race inspection as one part of my overall handicapping. In addition to my uncle "breaking me in" when he was working as
