I think there are many memories of this race not just because it was such a great race - but because it was a rare spring day when the 3YOs and the handicap stars shared center stage.
That year the Nassau County was on the same card as the Belmont. It was also the first year of the ACRS, and the top older horses were starting to show up in the same gate. What I remember most about that race is h

Numbers aside, I don't see how anyone who admires either Sunday Silence or Easy Goer could disparage the other. Either one would have been a Triple Crown winner in the absence of the other. The circumstances of their four contests are just more good reasons to hang out in bars.

The problem is that racing's ruling class would seemingly prefer to live with this issue on the quiet than to solve it noisily.
Even with the subject never having been hotter than it is right now, it is still far from a mainstream story. Therefore, any sort of high-profile testing program seems extremely unlikely. Why clip the heels of the fix-six scandal with a defacto Warren Commission on

The ending of a career as good as Eddie Delahoussaye's must be acknowledged. But, having never really California-simulcasted much, I've hardly ever seen him ride. Loved him on AP Indy. At times those two looked like they were napping out there.
I remember from a BC interview that Trevor Denman was a big fan. JB? How about our west coast correspondents? Any good Eddie D stories out ther

Linda Fiorentino. Yow! She made Sharon Stone look like Betty Rubble. Civil discourse, indeed!

"When I became a successful jockey ... there were no female role models to show me how to act. In the beginning I had to be scrappy and aggressive to be taken seriously by trainers, owners and other jockeys. I acted like a typical tough guy, not a girl. When success came, I had to learn that I was finally being afforded the luxury of being a woman."

I would if I could but the old memory bank is not downloadable. I didn't hear it live. They played it on the weekly dark-day recap show.
It was a hoot mainly because Julie showed just how difficult it is to call a race, even when it's a three-horse slopfest with lengths between each one. But she was game. She was also cute and horses ran for her. What's not to like?

No, I have not. I need to get out more. Or, at least watch an Avalanch home game and hope for a crowd shot.

I saw on the Thoroughbred Times site that the losing ticket purchased by the hacker from old hilltop went "All-All-Starine-WhyWhyWhy-Denon-War Emblem".
Does this ticket tell us anything about the other ticket?
It seems obvious that the losing ticket is just a dodge - a sacraficial lamb offered up to add a touch of verisimilitude to an otherwise unbelievable play.
But what about Stari

Take a short break from cut-loose varients and betting coups to consider the following ... is Barry Bonds having the greatest year in the history of baseball? And all without anyone really noticing?
Bonds is well on his way towards beating the all-time single season record for on-base percentage. On September 15th Bonds had an OBA of .577 - and I'm quite sure it's gone up since then. T

Chris;
I may have underrated Schmidt a bit. I think the shorthand I used this afternoon was penalizing guys without great ba's backing up their power, especially if they were prone to striking out (figuring they would frequently get challenged rather than walked - having no idea of their actual oba's). Now that I think about Schmidt a little more I remember a guy with a hole up and in

Alydar;
Yes. Thanks. He's the only player ever traded after a triple crown season, yes?
I'll enjoy the rest in the later AM.
