Rosewood:
Thanks...FYI, I've been a fan of racing (and wagerer!!) since my senior year in high school ('73), have been an owner since 1991 (although I have not owned any since 2003), live 15 minutes from Belmont, essentially live the entire month of August in Saratoga for the past 18 years, etc... I have absolutely LOVED this game...until the past couple of years, for the reasons t

Points well taken, particularly as regards to the pari-mutual wagerer. Corporate CEO's would find themselves in jail (Enron??) if they followed the same 'non-rules' as racing does. I wonder if the racing 'powers that be' even factor in the betting public's perception of 'Performance Enhancing Drugs' as it relates to the shrinking betting handle.

I'm speculating...however I believe that Mr. Brown is implying that the 'huge efforts/pattern' of BB is quite similar to Barbaro.

Unbelievable!!! Mike was the Raiders #1 pick in 71'...I played baseball on SI with Mike prior to him attending Villanova. BTW his brother Dan, was a very good handicapper back in the mid-70's!!

Guys...this NYG team has exceeded any/all expectations and is clearly playing with house money. Having said that look at the #'s:
- NE has been exceedingly poor in covering the # the past 5-6 weeks (do you think Belichick cares if he wins this game by 2 points?)
- THEY have the pressure on them to complete the undefeated season
- There are now questions re: Brady and his right leg

Attended the races yesterday (Wednesday) at Monmouth Park...Some observations:
- As far as the physical plant is concerned. typical Breeder's Cup configuration...multiple corporate tents, different entryways (outside turnstiles being set-up for Saturday), no valet parking, etc., similar to the past BC's that were held at the 'old' Gulfstream Park.
The clubhouse looke

A few suggestions (coming from someone who traveled from Staten Island to MP 47 times in one year prior to my moving to Long Island!)
MP is approx. 65 miles from AC (AC Exp.- straight up the GSP, exit 105). Depending on BC traffic however, it could take you 60-90 minutes to go the last 5 miles on Rt. 36 from exit 105 get to the track (there is only one main road (rt.36) into the t

Excellent description. Even though vet's STILL DO NOT completely understand the exact mechanisms of how furosimide reduces equine pulmonary bleeding the current 'working model' is the following: It is suspected that pulmonary 'bleeding' is caused by the increase in pulmonary capillary 'wedge' pressures. It is thought that lasix reduces this pressur

Guys:
All of the previously mentioned points are valid. I've been attending the races @ Gulfstream since 1989 as both a fan and owner (had access for years to a owners box on the finish line, right behind Paul Houning). Unfortunately, those days are LONG GONE!
The 'new and improved' Gulfstream was built for one thing and one thing only...SLOT $ (and maybe, in someone

It is time to ban CTC2 forever. As a lontime handicapper and T-bred owner, I find his comments regarding yesterday's events insulting, cruel and ignorant. It is clear that he never has owned or raced horses and has no interest in this sport, other then to foster his own egotistical opinions.

After figs, developmental patterns, running styles, and recent workouts I am left with the intangible factors. All thing being equal (which they very rarely are, thats why they call it gambling!) in my opinion, due to the 'intangibles' the winner of this years derby will come from the Baffert barn for the following reasons:
- The controlling speed in SM.
- The second flight/sta

A few comments regarding the 'new Gulfstream Park':
I attended the races there from Thursday 3/30 through Saturday's Fla. Derby card and had the good fortune of having 4 of the seats overlooking the track for all 3 days.
Let me preface my comments by mentioning that I have been going to GP since 1988, have owned horses that raced there and have attended every Fla. Derby (e

I'am sure our paths have crossed over the years. (good recollection on Danzig Connection!)
NYRA does give a moderate preference for seats (earlier mailing of seat applications, etc.) to those NYRA One members who have used their accounts within the past 6 - 9 months. I have been successful in getting excellent seats (Section 3P and Section 3O, which are about 40 yards from the fi

Some advice from someone who has been to every Belmont Stakes since 1984 (BTW, brokerstip, I do remember the 'good old days' of 1984 - 1988 when you didn't need a $27 preferred grandstand seat, just a few pages of the form placed on your seat to reserve it!)
However, that was then and this is now.
