Fair Grounds La Derby Day entries are out. Seems like a card where one could
bury oneself with overanalysis. My shovel is ready, will TGs be out tomorrow?
Saturday AQ runs series of starter races, probably a good betting card and a
decent way to funnel some cash to trainers who will not be favored by upcoming
condition books so it seems like a good week to

Haven't looked much at FG in the last couple of years, maybe subconciously not
wanting to support any part of the
Corporation that makes racetracks
Disappear (CD). Also the weather; if handicapping well in advance (like
now) one would have to look at two scenarios, rain and shine; lots of washed
away turf races over the years here. One good development here in NOLA was that Louisiana
horsepeople stood up to CD and held their feet to the fire on some promises
which had been made.
The long term weather for NO is stormy Tuesday with a highly improbable chance
of sunshine Wednesday all the way through Sunday. Fast and firm for La. Derby
day? I'll believe it when I see it.
