I'm not one who knows the answer to that question. I was just reflecting on what I had observed. Now that you mention it of course there is probably none better than Bob Baffert at getting young horses prepared for their first race.
Regarding Ward, I was naively thinking he was better at teaching these babies how to run, how to handle the starting gate, and how to avoid distraction. Now I am more curious about such obvious disparities in performance.
Nevertheless, I'll be looking for some of his 2/1 first-time starters today.
