An interesting tidbit on Take Charge Lady:
"It's tempting to run her in the Kentucky Derby because she's that good," McPeek said. "I firmly believe she could win the race. But it's probably a smarter move to run her in the Kentucky Oaks."
Let's see if he has to eat his words in the Derby. As said before, she should have been given the opportunity at 9 fur

Saarland looks the best. Repent is out. I guess he'll get that rest now; too bad it had to happen this way.

I do think he is in danger of being overrun. It might be wise to give him some time off until late summer.
He obviously has ability so it would be a waste to ruin him now.

War Emblem clearly benefitted from his uncontested lead; I've seen old ladies with walkers go faster.
Repent continues to unimpress me. He lost ground in the stretch. IT IS possible to close there. Those behind the pacesetter do not hit a brick wall when they round the turn. His inherent problems of running wide and not changing leads on cue are just annoying at this point.

I don't think Bonapaw has had a work since arriving. Also don't know how she'll do off lasix.
As for the workouts, they've been online courtesy of equibase.

You know what? Right now I have to agree with you. It seems to me that Saarland is the one most likely to be improving heading into the 1st Saturday in May.
He was close to the pace yesterday (especially for a Shug horse) and held on well.
And surprisingly (to me at least), it seems Godolphin doesn't have any competitors ready.

Why do you see Repent bouncing yesterday? He ran all over the track (maybe they should replace D'Amico with Bailey to keep him from going wide...OOPS LOL!!!!)
As for Easyfromthegitgo, Asmussen always has 'em ready to fire in FG Stakes and Donnie kept him to the rail the whole time as I recall.
I don't see Repent winning the Derby when he's never even tried 9-furlongs.

I agree with you Phil about the trip and that no U.S. colts have been impressive so far.
Godolphin clearly has the best-bred youngsters. Many of them are bred for the stretchout to longer distances.
Unfortunately, I don't think some of their best candidates raced enough last year (if at all).
BUT, Suroor has proven he can big performances out of their stock off the layoff. I am anxiously
