BR has an opening line of 2-1... there is no way in heck he is going to be near that at post time. He's more likely 7-5 given the Zito/layoff/huge Wood fig combo....the oddsmaker is very out to lunch on the morning line. There is, IMO, 0% chance he is not the post time favorite and 5% chance he is not less than 2-1.

Now Spanish Chestnut is in... who will be up on the lead with Greely's Galaxy, Bellamy Road, and High Limit... with the forgotten solid High Fly waiting for them all to collapse and inhaling them before they field hits the quarter pole.
Who's going to run him down?

Any spring 3yo that runs a 120 Beyer ran as fast as it possibly could...BR was definitely asked. That myth "he could have run faster" is nonsense.

Question: Who were the place & show horses behind Smarty Jones entering the Ky. Derby?
Not very impressive... but it doesn't mean a thing. High Fly wins, he's sound and dead fit, and can be placed in a perfect position in a race. What is the evi

I disclose that I have High Fly in Vegas at big odds... plus more $ at 30-1 in Future 1 and 20-1 in Future 2. That was a huge effort yesterday and I agree with everything Silver Charm says. HF will be in the garden seat in the Derby behind whoever wants to run on the lead. Zito will have him wound tight for Derby Day and this horse is sound and completely fit. One 12 hour virus since he stepped

I wonder if the Dutch supreme court finds their legalization of smoking marijuana in line with European case law??? What the hell is it with the perceived evil of gambling?

There has been much noise made about bets made after post time not only on this forum, but in other discussion groups, industry articles, etc. While in theory it sounds simple, I personally have not been exposed to a technical explanation of how this could occur. The only time I have seen something in writing was the Pick 6 scam, which we know involved inside help.
Assuming that no inside help

HP... I couldn't agree with you more. I work in a managerial position for the biggest defense contractor on the planet and I pay $5000/yr for my family's health plan.
According to a 2002 article in the Louisville Courier-Journal a jockey's income breaks down as follows:
$35-$50 per mount based on purse
6% of purse for winning
1% of purse for placing
1/2% of purse for showing

I'm not bragging about it paying a certain amount and I wasn't posting it as a tout. I was simply refuting another post that I didn't feel made any sense.
There's also a difference between who you think has the best chance to win (regardless of odds) and who you think is the best price.
Geez.

You did some great research... but I don't understand its significance. What does it matter what horses in other races did over the course of a weekend? The only thing that matters is how horses performed who ran in the Arc. I don't care how 2 yos did running back or horses who run in 2 1/2 mile marathons.

She'll be on the rail saving ground on both turns. The two three year olds are dead closers who will have wide trips and will need to run new tops just to compete.

Go the NYRA site and watch the 1998 Travers and Coronado's Quest. It's about quality speed, not cheap speed. If Lion Heart runs near his top (~-1) and doesn't lose ground, he's a winner.

The turf stretch at Lone Star is no shorter than the stretch at Del Mar, Santa Anita, Gulfstream, or any other track with a one mile dirt oval and 7/8 mile turf course.
The Euros will show up and they'll win 2 of the , it's like taking candy from a baby with the basically sorry group of turf horses now running in U.S. Grade 1s.

Michael... I feel the same way and try not to look at the numbers in a historical comparison, you can really drive yourself crazy. You don't even have to go back to AP Indy, just go back to the 1997 Preakness when Silver Charm, Free House, and Captain Bodgit were all right there at the wire. Silver Charm got a Thorograph 3. It's just totally impossible for me to believe Rock Hard Ten a

Turfway Park form in his line? What does that have to do with anything? Same for the workouts? I don't understand your point. He ran a very nice race in the Derby to finish third and no one was beating War Emblem that day.

We all know Dickinson's record winning with odd training patterns. However, Tapit is just TOO SLOW. A 4 top going into the Wood, he probably paired that at best considering he was 1w on the first turn. He beat Master David who had a 6 top, Swingforthefences with a 4 top, and Value Plus who completed a nice Pletchered 0 - 2 - X. If Tapit is in the Arky Derby or Blue Grass he's a minimum

Mike... just curious... what are you basing your statement on that Lion Tamer doesn't want 10 furlongs?
His daddy, Will's Way, was a G1 winner at 10f and knocked heads with Skip Away, Louis Quatorze and Formal Gold. Plus, the entire male side of his pedigree screams distance (Easy Goer on down).
While there is a lot of speed on his dam side (Tippecanoe Creek), the damsire, Olympio, h

JB... I read today that Lion Tamer will run in the Jim Beam/Lane's End at Turfway, then get six weeks rest going into the Derby.
While spacing is always a plus, do you feel it's the same with a developing 3 yo? It often seems that Derby horses just get on a roll and thrive on the racing while getting stronger and stronger.
What's your take?
