Re: Derby Seminar - 2 years ago
That is one of my most important factor in finding overlays, 6 and 8 furlong fractions on route races shortening up. Most of the time the fraction is fast but the figure is slow.by Roman - Ask the Experts

Female tail of family seems pretty classy. Wondering why Calumet put him in a 30k claimer after a dud on the turf?by Roman - Ask the Experts

If I remember correctly, I don't think those two ever won a race again. And Country House never ran again.by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Hey guys... - 2 years ago
Horse won fair & square! Congrats to the connections! Let's be respectful , they do not all cheat, plus has Reed ever had a positive? Horse won , I lost, respect to the little guys, that's the type of scenario that let's us dream! After turning wrenches for 35 years, in my next career, I hope that could be me! Re: EVERYBODY KNOWS... - 2 years ago
No , TGJB, sorry. It was a snark comment, of course ground loss matters, and it did greatly in the derby.by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: EVERYBODY KNOWS... - 2 years ago
His dam ran a 9 as a 2 year old, and ran a 0 at 3, so a 9 point jump was in the genes. Horse won fare and square, great ride by Leon, terrible ride by 15 other jockeys.by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Mattress Mac - 2 years ago
From what I understand is that the underwriter could not find anyone to insure the promo anymore, since he runs them so often, that he results to hedging. Read that in an interview of him somewhere a while back. And he does wash, last I heard was 14 million in sales!by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: EVERYBODY KNOWS... - 2 years ago
Mo Donegal took the overland route , 8 wide, Rich Strike stayed inside, had not a straw in his path on the rail. Winning move for Leon, but ground loss doesn’t matter! Right Jerry?by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: EVERYBODY KNOWS... - 2 years ago
How about the first quarter in 21 and 3, half in 45 and change, wicked pace! Plus the 2 pace setting jockeys were first time derby starters, after watching the last few derbies thought they could go out & walk the dog on the lead. Can't wait to see the figs, figure a lot of off and x's , just like every other derby, with rich strike the only one running a new top?by Roman - Ask the Experts

Jeff Ruby Stakes race at Turfway looks like itis turning into quite a key race! Tawny Port, Rich Strike.by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Derby Picks - 2 years ago
Was Rich Strike even in the seminar, I literally did not even see him in the post parade, forgot he even drew in when I saw him doing a Mine That Bird! All in all, down 50 bucks, after pumping 500 through the tote for two days. Shout out to TG, best figures in the biz! Would not touch that horse with your money and would probably leave him off an all ticket just to keep the cost down. Joe Shaby Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Derby Picks - 2 years ago
Who is that? Didn't even see him in the post parade, then i thought that was the 2 horse, $30 k claimer!by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Race 11 - 2 years ago
Nice score, great job! Congrats! Had the 10 on the verticals, need the TG quad to get home in pick 3 and 4. Good luck.by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Taiba 5/1 @ 10:47 eastern Messier @ 6 - 2 years ago
Taiba is the favorite in the pick 3 & 4, Epicenter in the double, and pick 5 & 6. Don’t care who he bets on, just wondering what the legalize says, the post time favorite that he is making, or the true pari-mutual favorite, wondering if there is a time cut off, or odds cut off?by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Derby Conditions - 2 years ago
I like Taiba, not worried about the derby size, all of them have to worry about 19 other horses, so it to me is a non factor since all deal with the same number of entrants, light on seasoning, but its a horse race, think he will be forwardly placed, so traffic a less concern for him, the mud is the question. Being out of Gunrunner certainly should help, looking like its going to be an off track,by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Derby Conditions - 2 years ago
Will they be off the turf Friday? I think unless it’s a quagmire, turf will be soft, and they will stay on , especially since they have the all turf pick 3. Always hate when weather impacts the big days. Like it fast and firm, equal chance for all.by Roman - Ask the Experts
Post time favorite? - 2 years ago
Is he selecting and making the derby favorite? And money into the exotics! Nice to have his money in the pools. If I were him, and not that I wouldn’t mind his bankroll, I would make Smile Happy post time favorite, Runhappy, sire of Smile Happy, post time favorite for this years Kentucky Derby, standing in stall 1 at historic Claiborne farm, call Bernie Sams and book now.by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Baffert redux - 2 years ago
Is Baffert on a program like Navarro and Servis, epo, peptides, anti bleeder, steroid or any other prohibited “performance enhancers “ is the true question. And as we know, unless a law enforcement agency with subpoena and warrant powers to order surveillance, pen registers and phone taps and computer intercepts, all we can do is speculate if he is doping, or find out the truth if and/ or whenby Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: 2022 Oaks Derby Seminar Now Online - 2 years ago
Hate to red board the seminar, but I couldn’t agree with the analysis any more , been staring at those figs for a good 40 hours , and the grouping is spot on. Great job! No let’s kill at the windows, going in with both fists full. Good chance of that f u to Churchill downs happening IMO! Good luck to all! Who is going to start the picks thread?by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Ky derby field - 2 years ago
I have Taiba closer to the pace, definitely in the first tier. In the SA derby, Smith had him close to the lead and then fell back and tracked. Horse seems to rate very nice. Unless the race completely falls apart, it seems with the cheap speed out of the race the last 10 or so years, that being in the first flight is where to be. Otherwise, I’m with you on the rest of the list.by Roman - Ask the Experts

Doesn’t John Sadler , Steve Asmussen and Wesley Ward all have more overages, positive tests than BB?by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Baffert redux - 2 years ago
No, he should be forced to cooperate, the silence is deafening! I think that is a bigger problem than the doping itself, is the silent complicity!by Roman - Ask the Experts
Re: Wesley Ward - 2 years ago
Doesn’t WW have several overage’s also, never here much about that.by Roman - Ask the Experts

Re: Baffert redux - 2 years ago
My wife spent a lifetime on the back stretch of tracks , so I asked her if grooms piss in the horses stall, she said all the time, the horses do it. If they are testing at those levels, picograms, if the horse would eat the straw that the groom just pissed on, logic would have it that the horse would ingest whatever toxins are in the urine from the groom. The problem I have with trainers , BB inby Roman - Ask the Experts
