Santa Anita comes out against flailing. The irony is hard to top.

The very idea that it is possible to "explain" the "cause" of the breakdowns is insane. Let this idea in the door and you are done. You will be placing yourself at the mercy of randomness and you will go to bed every night under a Sword of Damocles.

"Organizations who advocate for animal welfare have also affirmed their support for these measures. Kathy Guillermo, Senior Vice President for PETA said, 'PETA thanks Santa Anita for standing up to all those who have used any means to force injured or unfit horses to run. This is a historic moment for racing and PETA urges every track to recognize that the future is now and to follow su

Yes, but that is not the bad geometry. The bad geometry is here:
"Being the speed would presumably allow you a rail trip......the bigger the turn(s) the bigger the advantage that would provide."

Regarding the stuff about temp rails:
The geometry is wrong. The rationale is asinine. The posts are ridiculous.

Amen. Sometimes you just need to start over. The British had the right idea (albeit the wrong century) when they torched the ####ing White House.

OK, now I have reasonably high hopes that the article about you will be mostly accurate.
But the article about Beyer screws up one of the two most important things: use of par times.

"When he wrote Picking Winners in 1975, Andrew Beyer told the world exactly how he generated his numbers"
He told everyone in the world except the guy who wrote this article.

This interview is so awful that the best thing Christian can do is tell people not to watch it. That way there is at least a chance they will listen to him when he tells them to watch the next one.

"What exactly is that supposed to mean?"
What it means, Bobphilo, is that you are a fact-botching machine who constantly writes things that would embarrass a kindergartner. It has reached the point where I now read something from you and immediately think: "This was written by Bobphilo. Therefore, it is probably false."
"You know nothing of my education level."

This is a door that you, of all people, should never open, Bobphilo.

Right. This retirement never would have happened if Bowie Kuhn were still alive.

This post is fine with me as far as it goes, Silver Charm. Rugbyman might well have had unpublished works before his maiden win, for example. The problem comes if you start blending this sort of speculation with the ludicrous Motion stats from the Rags board. Doing so gives you a statistical game that is rigged in favor of workouts.

Silver Charm: Believing stats that you read on the Rags board is usually a mistake.
Believing things like this (from the Rags board yesterday):
"Rule: Play no Motion horse who hasn’t worked twice since his last race.

P-Dub:
Take a look at this from Banditbeau's post:
"you have arguably the top weapon in the game in Aaron Rogers (TG numbers for us). But, your defense(wager construction) is so terrible that you never win as often as you should."
Then take a look at this from Banditbeau:

Well done, Frank. You have penetrated all the noise and obfuscation and gotten right to the core of the matter: my firm belief that horseplayers are not allowed to change their minds.

Oh, cool. Now that I have your definition, I am going to embrace it.
Myself, I figured that if they got out of the gate and ran their race, Justify would win, Good Magic would finish second, Audible would finish third, and Instilled Regard would finish fourth.
Now let's see if we can get everybody else to play by our definition.

Fairmount,
Thanks. I appreciated the humor (and the irony) in your first post. The only point I was trying to make is that redboarding is about selectivity every bit as much as it is about potential dishonesty.

Fairmount;
Can you give me a loose estimate as to the percentage of the phone call/text predictions you give and receive that end up being posted on this board after the fact?

Since management obviously hangs on my every word, my suggestion to management is that the next person who tries to use post-race mentions of phone calls, texts, or whatever, in order to vacate pre-race posts should be hanged, drawn, and quartered, and then what is left of him should be put on the rack, the iron maiden, and the bastinado.

Originally (2014, I think) it was to be G1 and G2 only. But they came back later and supposedly added G3s, and the language appears on yesterday's race 7, which was a G3.
Regarding the wording, "subject to" is at the mercy of "likelihood of..."

Language like that was there in 2015 and 2016. And they might have been just trying to save space by leaving it off the race 6 chart.

I'm serious about the 15 seconds. But I don't start counting until I have downloaded the racetrack I want. It's more like 45 seconds from a standing start.
Be sure you are selecting "trainer changes" from the first menu they inflict on you after you click on "modify filters." I skipped that step in my instructions the other day.
