Re: Ohio Derby - 3 years ago
Tough race to have any conviction on a winner. The ML seems about right with the only value being on the Stall horse MASQUEPARADE. He’s fastest horse coming into the race, good trainer and plenty of rest from his last big jump. At 8-1, he’d be my key although I think he’ll go off somewhere closer to half that price. As for the rest of the field, 12-1 on HOZIER is enticing. New trainer wiby jerry - Ask the Experts
That effin Goldwood Stakes race at MTH today. - 3 years ago
Yes I’m pissed. You could get the winner from the sheets. That’s no biggie but the late money beat down to 9-5 smelled a little fishy. But the second horse, mmm. Not the way I read it. And he took a suspicious amount of money too. Anybody else read it differently? Redboarding and chirping permitted in this thread.by jerry - Ask the Experts
Re: Druckenmiller: Make high conviction plays... - 3 years ago
There in lies one of the keys to winning or losing. Boring. Winning should be boring. If it’s exciting there’s probably too much risk. Just ask a bond trader.by jerry - Ask the Experts

Bulletproof locks are usually pretty reliable. They just don’t pay well enough to offset the odds of the unusual event. Follow Munger’s advice. Find a mispriced asset and buy it.by jerry - Ask the Experts
Re: Jersey Girl Stakes - 3 years ago
Case in point, Delaware’s 7th today. Angelus Warrior is 8-1 in ML. Double probables project maybe 2-1 or less. I cancelled my bet.by jerry - Ask the Experts

Re: Maker - 3 years ago
Hot Brown had a few good numbers from last year he could run back to. With his early speed he figured to get a good trip. I doubt he ran the fastest number today. I threw out the lone race this year as a first out off a layoff. It was a G1 against tougher.by jerry - Ask the Experts
Re: Preakness M/L - 3 years ago
Cloud Computing had a much more competitive sheet going into the Preakness that year. The two that I think could make some noise at big prices are Lukas’ RAM and Diodoro’s KEEPMEINMIND. RAM reminds me a little bit of another Lukas TC horse by the name of Charismatic although Charismatic had a competitive top going into that year’s derby. RAM would have to make another big move forwarby jerry - Ask the Experts

I think MS and CT will make the pace but I don’t see two Baffert horses dueling each other into defeat. It’ll probably be the exacta.by jerry - Ask the Experts
Re: Preakness M/L - 3 years ago
Where is the pace in this race? A few years ago Oxbow and Gary Stevens stole the race. A few years after that Dale Romans horse almost pulled it off. I don’t see any pace other than Baffert’s two horses. This one doesn’t look that competitive on paper. Disappointing.by jerry - Ask the Experts

Re: Listen... - 3 years ago
JB, you’re on this thing of what a horses natural ability is vs enhancements as if pain masking meds are ok because the horse could actually run that fast if he wasn’t so damn lame. If it’s a regulated med and it shows up in a blood test it’s a violation. Your beef is with the status of the med.by jerry - Ask the Experts
Re: Listen... - 3 years ago
So you’d prefer that the suspected offense be glossed over because of bad optics? The public is already on to horse racing being a dirty sport and this is a big reason why. The best thing that could happen to the sport would be a massive come to Jesus moment whereby all sinners are expelled.by jerry - Ask the Experts

Re: Listen... - 3 years ago
My guess is they were using it between races and there was a residual amount still in the horses system. The question then would be why did Baffert deny ever treating the horse with it when he could have copped the residual amount plea. The answer is the DQ would stand.by jerry - Ask the Experts
Re: Listen... - 3 years ago
You can apply the same logic to any of his other positives can’t you? The medication must have some beneficial effect or it wouldn’t be on the list of controlled substances.by jerry - Ask the Experts
Re: Here we go. - 3 years ago
If that’s the case then there should be a lot more positives from other trainers’ horses shouldn’t there be?by jerry - Ask the Experts
Re: Yes, humans must first touch the drug - 3 years ago
So it’s just a coincidence. Sorry, I’m not buying that. Baffert has too many drug positives for this to be coincidental. He cheats. If the sampling results hold up he should be given a 1 year suspension. Let him work on his tan.by jerry - Ask the Experts
