Never heard of that phrase either -- but assume he means rails out -- favoring front running horses and being a disadvantage to closers because the course is narrow. I guess.

I think your comments are fair. I was actually going to address your issue in my previous post but my post was getting too long as it was.
DM has a generous incentive program for horses who previously ran at another track and shipped into DM. The reason for this is to increase the number of horses running in each race -- something all of us can appreciate. I know NOW Harper has increased the

You are being a lot more sympathetic to track management than I am able to be.
The horse breakdown occurred right in front of my box (for the 3rd time this year). You are correct, this time it was on the synthetic and not turf. I don't know if he broke his leg, had a heart attack, or whatever but he was euthanized. 3 weeks of racing and at least 10 horses are dead and I have witnessed the

Another loss today in the 3rd. I am at a loss for words. New management required at Del Mar. I am a hardened racetracker/owner. What I am experiencing at DM is very sad! 10 in 3 weeks -- really?

Turf disaster continues. Another breakdown today. No turf racing Friday, Saturday, Sunday. My horse will scratch out of the scheduled 3rd turf race on Saturday -- I am relieved. What a travesty...

I know what my old trainer Wally Dollase would do -- geld him. Maybe sounds crazy but they need to make a race horse out of him.

The new turf course was expanded to allow for larger fields. It was done to get the BC for 2017. Problem is there is very little grown grass so the horses are essentially running on hard dirt that cannot be manicured. Harper says they will aerate the grass (or actually dirt since there is little grass) to slow the surface down. Of course, that will probably cause an uneven surface and create more

4 horses euthanized in 2 days. One was right in front of my box. Disgusting and very sad. My young daughter does not want to go back to the track and I have owned horses for 24 years. Track records every day on turf and poly. And, why again will the BC be held there (I am sure a lot of Euros will show up to run on the green concrete). Time for Harper to earn his outrageous pay and make BOTH track

Looking at the Breeder's Cup Board of Directors photo page, I can see why they are not focused on the calendar and schedule conflict with Halloween. There are 14 Directors. 13 are men. 1 is a woman. No minorities (by the way). Average age maybe 70. 1 young looking fellow (Bret Jones).
Halloween means nothing to them -- if you tell them about the conflict they would say "huh?" or

I think that and probably Art gave him a bit of a perspective. Coburn owns 30% of CC, a horse who was produced by a mare that cost $10,000 of which Coburn owns 30%. CC is his only race horse and the mare is his only broodmare.

Speed favoring track surface. Perfect trip. Excellent ride. Nasal strip stayed in place (as much as I could tell and most importantly so did Espinoza's).
This is a very ordinary crop of 3 year old horses. Time was about 6-7 lengths slower than the earlier 1 1/2 race and they finished in a bunch at the end. 2 of 3 in the classics is an awesome accomplishment though.

According to quotes in USA Today, Violette, Stewart, Pletcher and Gowan say their horses will not be running with nasal strips. Of course, Sherman will with the other trainers not being interviewed.

Entered in the Easy Goer in the 2nd race -- 5/2. Probably another toss. These last minute adjustments are generally not good.

SI a toss for sure. Especially at the odds that will even go lower than 7/5.
Bayern with blinkers from the rail will keep him honest among others. No thanks.

Hard to tell with his white blaze. Looks like it and makes sense he would. You will have to decide.

You make a good point here. The jockey plays a major role especially in this race and most of the time a big time jockey wins (Jose Valdivia/Ruler on Ice an exception, but I like him). Espinoza can be really good or really bad. I don't ever bet jockeys but this is a different kind of race.

Funny you say Frankel was a nice guy. He really was. People were afraid of him out here because he had a lot of New York in him (no offense anyone). Anything but laid back and was very direct. Though didn't even call us when our horses were running -- "if you are not even paying attention enough to know when your @#%^'in horse is running too bad."
