You are correct in that we don't get the data and probably should but these horse guys (trainers not necessarily owners) are really smart -- just look at the intricacies of drug usage -- and nasal strips are anything but that and most trainers think they are unimportant and cost essentially nothing. Knowledge is power and i get that. I am not against obtaining the information but let me ask

I don't know what made CC improve so much but trainers

At least he beat a 3/2 with the one race he selected horses other than "all." I sat next to him and his trainer at the Breeder's Cup draw in 2002. They d

Seems like no. I think Travers is the target (according to Barry Irwin). Belmont probably would have been a great placement if he had more foundation.

If my memory is correct, the police believed PETA or someone like that likely sent the threatening anonymous letter that included death threats to Ivarone, his family and Dutrow should something bad happen to Big Brown. While they had to take the threats very seriously -- hard to imagine even Desormeaux would throw this particular race. I say BS. Death threats -- true. Connections threw the race

This is addressing an old thread. The Churchill Downs shredding continues with an owner of California Chrome ranting about the miserable experience they all had at Churchill -- even though they won the KY Derby. "The hospitality we received at Churchill Downs wasn't very good" among other very negative comments. Seems like complaints are coming from everywhere, bettors, owners, tra

That may mean the Preakness Annual Toilet Run will be even more treacherous this year. Oh to be young again... and oh so stupid...

I didn't like the weather forecast on Weather.com and AccuWeather so I thought I would look at the bleacher report forecast. Unfortunately, the same. 80%-100% for Friday. 20% for Saturday.

This is my favorite Durkin race call. Deputy Commander won the Travers by inches a few days after Chris McCarron's mother died. Owners thought Chris would not be able to ride. Chris tearfully gave his mom credit for giving him a little push at the wire. Durkin said he felt foolish after the race for emphatically calling Deputy Commander the winner since it was so close. He really did hav

I have not seen any posting regarding Bejarano's injury. He fell yesterday in the 4th race at SA when his horse broke down. He has a broken collar bone, shoulder blade, and rib and will be in the hospital for a few more days. His mount, Gameboy Luke, was euthanized.
Speedy recovery.

Thanks. I wasn't clear with my question as it was meant for Vagrant. I would like to know how his 1,2,4 or 5 assisted him in selecting Commanding Curve.

Just curious. What landed you on Commanding Curve -- 1,2,3, 4 or 5?

Hard to find many faults (any?) with him. Drew the rail though. 28 starts. 20 wins. Half of his losses at CD give some hope to those who want to beat him. But, also made over $1,000,000 at CD. Weak field. Ridiculously low odds. I think best at a mile. This is 1 1/8. still...

Out of interest I looked at their Q1 2014 results. Their main focus, by far, is on casino gaming and not thoroughbred racing. Not sure the make up of CHDN but according to their reporting, racing is on the decline and casino gaming is doing very well. Stock increase is not due at all to a robust racing operation.

I have no idea what backgrounds the corporate folks have but they need to realize that they are in the service industry. Plain and simple. Pissing off customers, gamblers, trainers, owners, and industry partners will eventually sink them. I do not own any stock in the parent company but if I did I would sell.

I have heard that Vegas (Wynn) is now allowing betting from Churchill the "old school" way -- by limiting payouts and handling everything themselves. Negotiations are on going. Not sure what each casino is doing.

I heard this morning there may be a Las Vegas blackout of the Churchill Downs simulcast including the OAKS/Derby cards due to an increase demand for carrying the signal. I have not been able to substantiate -- anyone know anything about this?

Just read he has something called "seedy toe." My trainers have never used that one before as an excuse for a poor outing. Pretty much have to toss. Explains Baffert's hyper-interest in getting Bayern into the race.

Derby Trial does not offer any points toward the KY Derby. Baffert says he is definitely running tonight though. I think Bayern was at Churchill with owners hoping to get into the Derby -- so why not run? No shipping required.
