That's pretty funny. Does that mean they had him as playable going in?

I have not looked at any figs for los al, but I would consider the 7 horse in the last race. Above average works for this group and a true quarter horse jockey who rides at the track year round. Good luck!

I believe the horses you mentioned were much faster than Tom. This one just looks way to slow to me. I guess we'll find out in the seminar.

I took that into consideration, but the numbers don't lie:). I'm using your 11 as well, along with the 4 and 8 to hopefully add some spice to the exotics. Good luck!

I'm all over the 7 in the 9th. Somewhat surprised his odds have drifted up.

The horses who've prepped at Oaklawn may not move forward figure wise in the derby, but they have done well hitting the board in recent years.......

Frank,
Usually the last weekend in June they have their big stakes card of the Iowa Oaks, Iowa Derby and the Cornhusker. Asmussen, Baffert and Maker usually ship a few ringers in. I'll check the dates and let you know.

Frank,
If you decide to do the Midwest tour, let me know. Prairie Meadows is 5 minutes from my house. I would be more than happy to give you the tour and share some Johnnie Walker Blue with you. We can also put our heads together to figure out which 15K claimer is ready to cycle back to his tgraph top of 18 so we can take down the entire 4K pick 4 pool:)

I think that Nyquist, Gunrunner and Lani stalk and get first run. We'll see what Nyquist is made of coming out of the turn.........

Frank, You had 2 of your final 4 in the championship game, very impressive. That was an incredible last 2 minutes. I hope you crushed it!

Definitely don't want to put any hard works into them so they would actually have a chance to win.......whatever he has done in the past obviously hasn't worked with previous contenders. Why would you ever keep that same game plan? When on the biggest stage, he seems to suffer from the inevitable tight sphincter.

You are right about the BCJ race. Not many horses could have overcome that trip, let alone a 2yr old. I think he gets first run coming out of the turn in the Derby. Whether or not he can hold off the closers is the million dollar question:)

I agree with you. I will be looking for that 15-1 shot in the Derby to use as my key. However, Nyquist will still be on my horizontal and vertical wagers. If anybody can get this horse ready for 1 1/4, it's Doug O'Neal. I'm definitely looking forward to see how the SA Derby shakes out next weekend.

Mike,
You aren't the only one who thought his last was faster. That's two weeks in a row that a California shipper came east and won for fun. Btw, I think take it to the edge is still running:) KMac has failed to show up on the big stage the last two weeks, I don't expect him to do any better the first Saturday in May. Nyquist may or may not win in the Derby, but I definitely woul

Yes, Nyquist bore out. He also quickly recovered and began pulling away again. Could be expected considering he was coming off of a 7 furlong prep and had never been this far before. He looks like the real deal.

Is that as 3yr olds, or are you counting 2yr old numbers as well? I've played most of the preps and I didn't remember that many having run that fast this year. I guess I learned something today! I would still consider using Lani underneath if he is training well and is getting lasix. He does seem to have the breeding. Thanks for the info.

Mike,
If the horse is in the TG 4.5 range, that means to date that there are only 4 or 5 Derby hopefuls who are faster. That puts him in range with some improvement. If the trainer decides to go with first time lasix and he is training well at Churchill, I will at least use him on the bottom of my tickets.

If you could actually get 7/2 on Cupid, I would take a stab. He probably goes much lower than that though. I'm going to key the Asmussen entry. Hopefully get 5/1 or better. I'll key them over the 4,5,10. Good luck!

I was going to tell you how impressed I was with your handicapping and bracket, until you admitted to having Villanova and Duke as part of your final four. Lol:) That sounds like quite the bracket contest you are in! As for hitting the rainbow six multiple times, I am very impressed. It's difficult enough to hit pick 4's consistently, let alone a pick 6. Keep up the good work!

You may also be overlooking a couple of points. First, he had been sprinting most of his career. He tries two turns and wins easily earning a new career top in the process. It's possible this is what the horse really wanted to be doing all along. Secondly, and most important in my opinion, he was getting serious weight from the top contenders.

I can relate to your pain, especially on today's stakes race. However, yesterday's results weren't totally out of the realm of possibility. I couldn't cash a ticket for 3 consecutive weekends and then had a banner day yesterday, including the late pick 4 at SA.
If it makes you feel any better, I've been waiting a month for Quick Casablanca to run back and had him wheele

Mo Tom looked like the best horse to me. Maybe it was the fact that it was his first start of the year, but Gunrunner looked like he may not relish a 1 1/4.

Great call today. Although your suggested 'key' to play underneath scratched, I substituted the 9 horse and was able to cash a few tickets. It just further proves the point that you can make a little bit of money, even when a heavy favorite wins.

I was actually impressed with the winner. Trainer seems to think he will get better with more distance. I am more interested in the Pletcher horse. He was sitting a good trip and then seemed to stop running on the turn. After getting passed by a few horses, he seemed to get involved again once straightened out in the lane. Maybe he is still somewhat green?

I think this is a great suggestion. I play primarily horizontal wagers, so any help/suggestions in regards to ticket structure or horses to use/toss would be beneficial. I would even be willing to pay extra for this feature.
