Looking at the history of the Juvenile Fillies Turf race, Post 14 is 10-0-1-0-1 while Post 1 is 13-0-1-0-0. For the male version of that race, Post 14 is 9-1-0-0-2, while the rail is 14-1-1-1-1. In that race, 4/14 winners came from post 12 or out. Obviously small sample size.

• Only six in the Sprint and Juvenile Fillies – never been one Breeders’ Cup race with less than seven, let alone two.
• Most will say the Europeans drew poorly in the Juvenile Turf with Modern Games (5/1) on the rail (which I do not mind too much - think Mendelssohn) and Dubawi Legend (4/1) in post 14. It looked like they had predetermined the morning line odds regardless of post, so the 4/1 m

Del Mar 8th on Sunday - Flightline looked fantastic today winning today off a 134 day layoff from his impressive debut stopping the clock in 1:08.05. Looked even better today. Trevor asked the question in late stretch – “Is this the next superstar?â€

Mandaloun at some point this year will win two of the biggest 3YO races by DQ. Cannot imagine that Medina Spirit does not get taken down in the Derby and now the Haskell.

Nice job for those that cashed - and TG for the ROW. "Since he’s only four, it’s
also not impossible he has another forward move in him, which would
give him an outside shot at the whole thing... But the value in the race is Max
Player, who could get a piece of this at a price."

With the forecasted rain, I expect the maintrack at Bel to be off tomorrow and that is a big consideration. Mystic Guide ran a huge race off a layoff and in the slop – conditions that mirror what he will get Saturday. I also think he is better suited to 10f than the rest of the field. As far as the layoff is concerned, it seems like trainers tend to give their charges a bit more time off coming

The NY standard is 10 pg/ml in plasma and a horse may not race for the following periods of time:
(2) for at least seven days following a joint injection of a corticosteroid; and the following corticosteroids may be administered only by means of a joint injection: betamethasone, isoflupredone, any formulation of methylprednisolone and any formulation of triamcinolone;

According to the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission’s April 2020 drug withdrawal time guidelines, betamethasone may be administered intra-articularly up to 14 days prior to a race. The acceptable threshold level was reduced from 10 picograms per milliliter (mL) in serum or plasma to zero in August 2020, hence some of the confusion over the incorrect 10 picogram level. So no, you cannot administer

There is still a long ways to go and this is not always the best indication of final odds, but currently (11:00 AM Pacific) in every Black Eyed Susan to Preakness daily double probable except one, Midnight Bourbon is the favorite. The only ones where he's not the favorite are the Baffert to Baffert ones. It will be interesting to see if that trend holds up and he ends up going off favored in

Totally off topic – but I wondered where is Mejia now? In 2018, MLB announced that MejÃa was being reinstated. He pitched a few innings in the Dominican Summer League Mets and was released by that organization at the end of the year. In early 2019 he signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox where he went 2-8 with eight saves and a 6.02 ERA. He signed with a team in the Mexican League in

Do a Google search of Otomax. While it comes in various packaging I am sure, in all of the pictures I have seen Betamethasone Sulfate is clearly under the brand name and also on the ingredients list. I am skeptical this was the cause, but if it was whoever was administering it the horse probably should not be taking care of racehorses. And if it wasn't they definitely should not be taking ca

Does anyone know if Chad’s horse Excellent Timing in the American Turf (#1 CD 9) bled ? His race certainly looked a lot like Aunt Pearl’s. There are other possible reasons for stopping so bad, but in this day and age that would be my first guess (and second and third one too)...

I seem to recall that back in the early 1980’s the owners of Perrault (DQ’s out of a SA Handicap win against John Henry) used to bet large amounts to win on his horses early, so the first tick showed extremely low odds. He reasoned that this drove the value players to longer odds horses and in theory raised the odds on his bet. Seems to be working so far here are some of the others are gettin

Am I the only one who thinks it's a bad look when they are just barely across the wire in the Oaks and Irad jubilantly pats JV on the back after just losing a stretch duel? Not trying to imply anything nefarious is going on but it just seems like a bad look. I have no problems with him congratulating the victor but could they at least wait and tell they have turned around and are coming back

He was actually 5/1 earlier along with Hot Rod Charlie and Rock Your World - looks like a half million came in on one chunk.
Not sure how he is placing those bets - he did say he was cognizant of not driving the price down late so maybe it was him.

I got the same numbers - here is the data in case anyone is interested.
Looking at one prep going into the Derby did not yield anything too interesting as far as I was concerned. Since the archives go back to 1997, I used that as a starting date and looked through to find any starters with one prep. There were only seven horses that had one prep. Two were from Saeed bin Suroor, four were from
