Top rate of speed. If two animals have barely used any energy in the first half of a race, the one who possesses the top rate of speed holds a decisive edge.
I'll take a Sprint champion over a BC Classic winner at 1 1/4 if the first 6f is a crawl.

A race with an unusually slow pace will overwhelmingly favor the horse with the fastest top speed.

Make that 4 for Quidura. Ran much further than Lady Eli did at Keeneland. Getting weight. Great price. Good luck guys.

I think what is the most interesting part of this Baffert run is that he didn't run a single horse in the highest public exposure races, the Triple Crown. I have a hard time believing that he had zero stock capable of moving up from out of the clouds in one of those races. But then, that would draw attention

Yep, Irap might be a force. He had a god-awful trip and persevered. Look out. Would have been a hell of call for the stewards to have to make if Girvin won that head bob.

I can't get past Irap here. Training well and has the best fig by a lot. A good break from that top, O'Neill doesn't ship for fun. Looks like a good spot for him to wire one.

I'm chalking Stanford's last up to an awful Johnny V ride at an awful track. Put a line through that sloppy Charles Town. This one is still a nudge below Gun Runner, but he's worth a shot at 10-1 or more.
Only other one that is mildly interesting to me in Mo Tom who looks like he definitely has another forward move in him at some point this year, maybe today? 18-1 isn't

Going to try to go against the favorite here who doesn't look all that great warming up and has gotten some negative workout reports.
Trying the Mott horse, Apologynotaccepted. Ran that huge early 5yo debut and went sour. Seems to have gotten onto the right track lately and has won for fun the last couple times. Could be more in her bag.

I'll take some Thatcher Street.
I nudged that last one a little forward as he was 1w1w on that soft CD turf last time, bullet work 6/6, should be coming back to his best here.

I like the Linda Rice horse. Went wayyyy too fast last time out.

The rail was open, but I'll chalk that up to a tactical decision, he was certainly trying in the lane. He was on a 21-1 maiden debuter. There's a reason Cornelio isn't relevant much anymore, and not getting top mounts anymore. He's 48 years old and is two years remove from a very scary injury, I'm surprised he has the nerve to still climb on these animals, but he's

That Dutrow horse with Irad gets my nod. Had to make his debut from the rail (on soft turf), and finished well after seemingly struggling to keep up early. I like betting those ones coming back to improve a point or two.
I don't like the workout pattern on that Mott horse, had two works after that last race, then 3 months off, just restarting the works on May 11th? I like 45-60 days of w

Wish I could say I had a great day, but Tapwrit winning salvaged a few bucks. I nearly cancelled some Meantime bets after seeing how bad he looked in the post parade, but couldn't pull the trigger. Oh well.

Easy Goer - VERY tough, competitive race. You got Baffert sitting pretty with the fastest horse by 2 points, and several with very sharp patterns from Pletcher (2), Brown, Asmussen, and Tagg. Casse has an interesting 2nd time starter that's been training lights out. The only one that you might get a good price on that might be worth a key in the tris and supers is Tagg's Tale of Silen
