I don't believe the words "market saturation" were included in the lexicon made available to those doing the financial forecasting. The really good news is that the Oneida Nation is about to open a casino in the Syracuse area, approximately an hour east of the

Maybe it's just me, but regardless of what I might think my horse might do, I don't think I'd jump in with both hands and feet in a 5F turf race with a large field, especially on a day when you have the world's best trainers having prepped their horses for the biggest stage in the game. Stormy Liberal ran back to the number he consistently ran earlier in the year, and did it

Yet another Ortiz at the top of a racing hierarchy.

Great line from perhaps the greatest, or at least, most instructive movie of the past fifty years not based on a Mario Puzo book. It's true about the SEC, and so much more, seemingly every day.

Just returned from five days at Del Mar. I love Saratoga, both town and track, like the most comfortable pair of shoes I've ever owned, but there's nowhere I'd rather be than the area surrounding Del Mar. To quote a wise man who's spending a lengthy amount of time out there, this year, there are only good days and better days at Del Mar.
Having said that, as far as the wa

Just wanted to pass along a tip of the hat to the customer service folks at NYRA Bets who are literally going out of their way to accommodate a request I made for a promotional offer. In stark contrast to much of the rest of NYRA, they seem to "get it" when it comes to customer service. In this instance, they are extending themselves to provide me with a specific benefit that paying c

This makes me think of the time I was in a golf slump, which at that point, had lasted about eighteen years. I went to the pro for advice on what I should do and he said, "Buy a boat."
However, other advice posted on this thread is far more valuable for the question at hand.

Perhaps the Governor, with his 15% approval rating, could take time out from his weekend at the closed beach, to issue a proclamation opposing thoroughbred racing in the state. Having an enemy like that would be invaluable.

If the name has been appropriated by a female, as is the case here, does that mitigate the shanda?

Rosario did such a great job of getting PJ to the inside from the 19th post out of the gate, but then approaching the turn, while he still had access to the rail ahead of LAL, he opts for the overland route. Did he think the benefit of the inside was just an illusion?

Richie .... I'm guessing NYRA is looking after the welfare of bettors and believes they need two races to recuperate from the rigors of the first Pick-5. Now, I'm no Mathcapper, but I saw that in today's AQ card, $252K was wagered on the Pick-5 and $37K on the Pick-6, so I can see why the Pick-6 is worth protecting. Of course, a fair comparison would require a longitudinal study

I've tried cashing tickets on that theory, Frank, but evidently it hasn't gotten much traction yet in the pari-mutual world.

I would rather bet harness racing than football, and I used to own harness horses, so I know from whence I speak.
There was a great line in an episode of the Showtime series, "Billions," in which the Paul Giamatti character (a powerful DA) is bemoaning the options of his life, specifically nightlife, and says to a friend, who had just asked him, "What am I going to do -- watch h
