Since they ran the pace of a mile race, how about we just rate every horse to the mile pole? Not so many X's, eh?

:50 half mile isn't plodding to you? Relative to the stopping horses, yes it looks like he's flying on the overhead. But except for having to slow down twice for traffic and come back up to speed, he was going same pace all race.

I put the last one at 7 3/4, and he probably moved up to a 2 or 3 here, with most of the rest of the horses being compromised by th

Nothing new for me, I've always called in the accuracy of the figures on horses who ran extreme slow or extreme fast fractions and make my own hand adjustments. You can't make up lost time and there&

Great post Fairmount and I'm in agreement. I don't think the 9 for Strike Rich's last race was fair either. He closed well into a slow paced poly race and IMO, that was a move forward in my book which made him live for another move forward. I'm not red-boarding, he was still too slow for me to use him any which way, but where most of the field ran very inefficient fractions, t

Buddy of mine had $1 ex 3/all, all/3. Got my balls stomped in today, but very happy for him. He's not a big $ player.

Fell in love with Prevalence on his maiden debut last year, and he sputtered out. Going to ride with him here.

Gonna be one of those days huh.

Ready Lady here for me. Dam popped as a 3yo, should run a top here, could get favorable pace situation, and save ground on Final Belle. UK horse has me nervous though.

Nice hit man, congrats. I don't think Nest enjoyed being down on the inside.

Trying for a win on Pretty Birdie in the Eight Belles. Should get the early lead and maybe a bit easier than it appears on first glance looking at the running lines. 8-2 ex cold saver.

Looks very similar to what I have been thinking.
As usual, it comes down to pace - which we haven't seen recently since the points change.
If they can get out at a solid clip and get strung out, Mo Donegal is the most likely winner IMO. Again, I do not have great confidence in that scenario playing out. Zanden is also a monster that will need a little pace up front.
If we get the m

I shouldn't be shocked because it is Cox, but I still couldn't get past the X or the sire. That's much more "impressive" than what Baffert did.

Wasn't the greatest field in the world, and I'm getting older so my memory may be starting to slip, but I literally cannot remember seeing a graded prep

I completely tossed Animal Kingdom from all my tickets because of his pedigree.
Ironicus is out of Distorted Humor by an AP Indy mare. He's stamina driven and this is his first crop of 3yo. He'll have some dirt studs, I'm sure of it.
And another refence to AK, Churchill dirt has always been kind to turf/synth runners.

Of course the horse I am interested in is Helium.
I have that final Woodbine race marked up faster as the final time was compromised by a slow pace. To draw away on Tapeta like that at 7f after :46.2 was... impressive.
But not a fraction as impressive as what he did at the Tampa Bay Derby, starting 6-7 lengths off the lead, travelling nearly 6w the whole way around the track and after idli

LOL OMG.. What an ass I am.. Make that THREE. I did all that work looking at every year's Derby back to 1997 and missed the third one this year. King Fury was not the one I was looking at that gives me the Animal Kingdom vibes.

I see seven from overseas, but ZERO US-based Kentucky Derby entrants that ran only one 3yo Prep race. (Worldly Manner ran with no 3yo prep races in 1999 and ran a 2-pt top)
We have two this year.
It's not difficult to spot the one that is giving me a very strong Animal Kingdom vibe.
