Or stay in Oceanside, and take that train to Solana Beach (probably less than one hour)and like Strike says, the shuttle bus from the Solana Beach train station to the track is fast and free. You could even stay further north in San Clemente, just a bit longer train ride. (book the train early too, get a reserved seat or business class otherwise you'll be standing)

So Cal - 7 years ago
Congrats to my friend Bill for his hit today in the Del Mar pick 6. This is his fifth Pick 6 hit of the year in So Cal (and the lowest payout) most have been 5 figures, he has been dialed in all year. I needed the 2 in the seventh and she lost by a dirty nose.

Good luck TGJB; I'll be in the Del Mar clubhouse celebrating my birthday (and my twin sister's) and rooting for you. Hopefully I'll have a way to track your standing on my phone.

It seems to me that at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May saving ground is not a recipe for success. Not since Super Saver and Mind That Bird has a winner gone 1w1w. I've bet horses with good number power who saved ground but got passed in the stretch by horses rallying wide. The rail in the Derby has seemed dead for several years.

It was me, that horse was the worst beat of my life I had the tri, super, Pick 4, Pick 3 and a big win bet on Commissioner at 28-1 if he only would hang on to win.

and Cherry Wine, as someone has pointed out previously on this board, should move up a lot in the anticipated off going.

Lani - 8 years ago
Interesting article by Haskins regarding Lani today I noticed he got a decent figure finishing 9th due to the wide trip. The sheets say 4w on the 2nd turn, Haskins says 12w. Perhaps Lani's figure should be better? I think he ran 1 3/8 miles in the Derby.

I bought the advanced sheets, seminar, analysis and considered everything and decided to keep it simple. I bet the two fastest horses. It worked for the Oaks, now we'll see if it works in the Derby. I have the double to the 9 horse.

I see that Destin is a full bro to Creative Cause, 5th in the Derby and 3rd in the Preakness in the I'll Have Another year. I wasn't a big fan of that horse that year, but interesting pedigree angle anyway.

Derby - 8 years ago
Thanks for posting the early Derby sheets for sale. Very interesting race. Your data will likely be invaluable. Lani is the wild card in this one...Mubtahiij last year suffered from what I thought was a very dead rail late in the Derby and still finished a respectable sixth or eighth or whatever, not that far behind the Super Horse American Pharoah. Lani started poorly in the UAE Derby this year

Coastline was my pick and I walked away with no cash, since I only bet Coastline to win. This was after cashing the previous two races with longshots on WPS bets when they didn't quite get there. $44 and $20 to place and show. I got cocky, I guess. Still, I had a nice small profit on the day and got the annual calendar giveaway and got away before the traffic. Santa Anita needs to figure out

To elaborate, my bet is 14/ 1,2/ all, 14 /all/1,2 and I'll probably reduce the all to a few less than all with a few throw outs

In the 4th at Santa Anita I like the 14 horse Coastline. First time Phil D'Amato with an outside post which I like on the hillside turf, competitive top good sprint turf pedigree and 20-1 morning line. Holy Lute scares me as well as Big Bane Theory, I'll box those with my pick as a saver. I'll be there on Saturday in person can't wait to pick up my Santa Anita calendar and cas

I liked Stay Thirsty to begin with, and determined he was a huge move-up on the off track so I doubled my win bet, and keyed him on top of all the exotics. He wins, I make a pile of money, too. Oh well. I thought I had a winner in the Preakness in Astrology, too. Good handicapping, but no money to show for either.

Agree, no damage. No offense meant Jerry I'm just a quiet and I like to think a loyal customer. I just logged on and found 3 emails with the same offer and then tried to get seats as I have a friend who recently moved from here in So Cal to within driving distance of CD. I tried to buy seats and couldn't get what I wanted.

Thanks for the "exclusive" offer for Breeder's Cup pre-sale tickets. I only received 3 such emails today, from TG, Del Mar Racing, and TwinSpires.com.

Chinglish had a good pattern on The TG Sheet and looked likely to run a new top. He also is by a hot new sire War Front, had good connections in Henning/JV, a good post and was getting 6 pounds on the favorite who was on the far outside.
I just looked at the TG Analysis in the Redboard Room, which suggested a three horse box, and they nailed it.

Didn't get a chance to post but loved Chinglish in this spot with Johnny V. Nailed the win heavily, hit the trifecta and the Super for 50 cents. I have a bankroll for the Preakness which I intend to hit with Astrology, Dialed In underneath.

That did it. Stay Thirsty over Soledat and the turf horses, especially the 11 and 16.
