About ROCK YOUR WORLD and jockey Joel Rosario: Of course, Rosario is a great jockey and a positive asset, especially because he’s been Sadler’s go-to boy. Yet I’ve been stunned to watch Rosario get off poorly so many times recently, it’s pretty comical. On opening day at Keeneland this meet, he was slam-dunk OP/missed the break completely 4 times! It was stunning to watch. Otherwise, all

BANDINI ran a -3 to win the 2005 Blue Grass at Keeneland (of course, in a performance expertly aided by Pletcher's The Good Doctor). Then, he ran 19th in the Derby and thereafter became a terrible sire.

Beware new Baffert stars emerging suddenly from his bullpen of lesser lights off the main radar. It just takes a little, er... attention... from Baffert's longtime supervet, Vin Baker. Voila! Just like last year?

I suspect Asmussen’s BIG LAKE, who finished third in the Rebel, paired his 5 ThoroGraph. CONCERT TOUR beat him by five lengths, so I’d guess he ran a 2-ish (or 3-ish?) to win it. Baffert’s good 3 yr. olds often come out with a “good, better, then best†troika.

“And I don’t assume that Lasix makes non bleeders faster...â€
So when that first-time lasix European entry in the Breeder’s Cup won at 75-1, what do you assume happened there?
1: Lasix alone provoked the performance enhancement?
2: Lasix was a masking agent to some auxiliary rocket fuel injected?
3: Neither.

And then there’s poor mere-mortal trainer Ben Colebrook. I wonder how much sleep he’s gotten lately knowing both KNICKS GO and TAX were once in his barn. In the past year, Brad Cox took KNICKS GO and turned him into a superstar. And two years ago, Danny Gargan claimed TAX from Colebrook (Claiborne/Dilschneider!) in his 30k maiden-claiming debut and turned him into a millionaire. Ben, say it

Another thought from Breeder's Cup day…
I’ve never played in a handicapping tournament. Probably because I perceive it to be a “longshots for longshots-sake†exercise. Down and desperate, you’re squeezed to play a bomb. Right?
During this pandemic while binge-chilling on YouTube, I happened to catch a video of the top two finishers of this years BCHC tournament discussing ho

The U.S. Senate on Monday night approved a bill to establish a national regulatory body for racing beginning in the summer of 2022. Supporters of the bill have already named a 7-member nominating committee to select the authority’s board of directors. The nominati

Stunning. He had no OscarDrive at Saratoga. Then, suddenly at Keeneland... wham! Pretty much effecting most, if not all his entries. Even his 2 yo's are pumped. I caught on to it pretty quickly to profit. But as I said last time... past a certain point, it's not funny.
He's got two in the first race today. Let's see if we'll be laughing after.

Just before the Preakness, Baffert was interviewed about how AUTHENTIC would run. Essentially, in no uncertain terms, he said his colt was breathing fire and would run big. He certainly was right. And the race reminds us that Baffert is best when he's 1w1w lone on the lead. When he's not...

I'm glad someone raised this point (again). Ultimately, we understand and accept your explanation. Know, of course, that it's been frustrating seeing so many void boxes through the dog days of August and September.
Seems to me that Grade 1 races should be at the top of your queue to be filled in. And now comes UPSTRIKER in tomorrow's G1 Breeder's Futurity at Keeneland off h

Jerry: Sorry to bother you. What did WIN WIN WIN run when he won his last race, The G1 Forego, at Saratoga? He’s now been retired due to a tendon injury. His win, going from last to first, going 9-wide, in the driving rain and mud, cost me a small fortune. I've gotta know just how explosive his number was.

Terrific 2 yo debut today in CD's 5th when AUNT PEARL wired the field at a mile on the turf for Brad Cox and made it seem effortless. Owned by Mike Dubb and the omnipresent Madaket stable (who seem to own a piece of every capable horse).
One to watch.

I suspect GAMINE may be vulnerable in her next at Churchill. After she orgasmed with the huge negative number on Belmont Day, she returned at Saratoga with a winning, but lesser effort. Having not seen her last number, I’m not sure if she’ll be classic O—2-X material, but another regression and a wide trip may make it interesting at CD. Just sayin.

ENOLA GAY was given a fast Beyer in her last win, a Grade 2 at Keeneland… but a slow ThoroGraph for that race because she ran on the rail. Why in the world was this son of Uncle Mo bet 3/2 in today’s Saratoga Oaks? Did the Ragozins have it fast like the Beyers did? People were creaming over her. Why? Did Jerry have her last wrong? She was a total bet-against if you believed Jerry.

A fortuitous episode:
Two minutes before the final leg of Belmont’s early Pick-5 went off today, NYRA’s John Imbriale announced that the #14 horse, a hopeless 50-1 shot I’d used in my Pick-5 ticket was a late scratch. Those who had the #14 would automatically get that selection switched to the favorite. I already had the favorite among the 4 horses in the final leg of my ticket. And I ha

Watching the NYRA feed pre-race, paddock reporter Maggie Wolfendale stated FIRENZE FIRE looked much worse relative to when Jason Servis was training him. And the horse was off-the-board. Best to look back at the end of the year to make a conclusion about the power of Jason Servis' rocket fuel. Glad Mr. Amore Stable didn't give the horse to Chad Brown. Kelly Breen's horses have all
