Boscar,
Bringing back memories.
Deputy Shaw won the MD. Million Sprint 1989 for Ron Davis with Dave Monaci his
trainer.
I attended the 1990 race which Deputy was defending champ.
My late great friend Albert Hurren invited me down to MD. and we sat with Ron Davis and Dave Monaci.
Back in the day, Albert used to run trips to the ARC, Melbourne CUP etc. partnering with Rusty McAnally.

Sorry to offend.
Was really meant to congratulate the TG analyst.
Had nothing to do with what I bet.
But since you are being your ornery self,(I have seen this act on other forums.) i will note that an Uncle Bill Backyard Member
did cash the 36k late pick 5 at OP.
He private mailed his picks beforehand and somehow figured the Prather 1ster in the first leg....btw... one that cost me

Been pretty ravaged last 3 weeks with Covid. (think I set a record for consecutive days without placing a bet...LOL...
Feeling much better but missed this whole discussion.
I am surmising that TGPS and NYRA had a divorce or temporary separation.
Realized during the summer meet, that there were "issues" being discussed.
Pretty obvious what they would be about.

This is the best BS they can provide.
The sad part is that in "other" betting pools Modern Games wagers were reinstated.
For the sake of the horizontal players, they could have made the race an ALL.
Not really all that satisfactory but the MG bettors did not "lose" everything.
If the 20212 BC was a movie, it would be Dumb and Dumber.

"But the idea that late odds drops are not happening is not accurate"
Not saying that at all.
The late bet downs do not always win.
If one horse gets bet down, then other odds must rise.
Which means some "Not Bet Downs" where odds RISE win.
I think you are not looking for those types.
The "WHALES" may just be better handicappers. The fact that they

Cannnot speak to every race posted but any study would need to more along the lines of what Bit is doing.
Think you have to look at a much larger sample.
And how does the "late" money and bet downs "know" they are going to win.

Picked a 9-1 cold at Santa Anita
Plus around a 6-1 at Belmont... Show Me the Honey
(Show Me price was aided and abetted by Andy totally dissing the horse on
the "Talking Horses" segment.)
Kurt Hoover and Simon were totally 'shocked" by "New Heat" in the SA 5th yesterday. You could hear it in their voices as NH did his best "

Very little handicapping lately so will post the Beldame.
6th race Belmont
1 1/8 (assuming fast track)
Need a 1 to 2 to win the race on TG
In PP order:
1) Thankful (Pletch and Carmouche) Looks slow on TG. TOSS
2) So Darn Hot (Weaver and Javier C) Has an isolated # back in June that would be competitive here, But nothing before or after. TOSS
3) Zaajel (Pletch & Franco)

A very well thought out post. Much appreciated.
Thought TGJB's "nonsense" positive caught me a bit by surprise.
Am assuming he was distinguishing between the "effects' of the actual substances in question on a kind of "first level" analysis.

Bill,
Great seeing you again!
And the highlight of the weekend was surely meeting your fiancee Nancy!!
And watching her work the Saratoga Crowd!! LOL
Many congrats!!
Was going to PM you on your late the pick 5 play. Knew you singled Regal Glory and had 1450 FM on the radio as he powered his way to the win. Was not sure you had the Schettino in the finale.
21K is a nice number.

One Time:
Plenty of "Seminars" available in Uncle Bill's Backyard each and every day of the Saratoga meet.
Not all racing related.
If Fairmount, Jimbo, Moose, Trackjohn, Fairmount, Rocky etc. are around, you will get an education in life, music, food, pizza, beer, restaurants, etc. And occasionally the poet laureate of the TG Forum Richebee will make an appearance accompan

Absolutely shocked that Admiral Frank D. did not offer you a stateside room at his Round Lake Yacht Club!!
The High End: Normal group. Few older hotels like the Adelphi.

Moretti comes out of the mistimed Lone Rock 1 12/ Belmont Day.??
I say that because the on track time was 2:25 and change. Being on track, peering through my Warby Parkers, I alerted my fellow foursome of punters that Lone Rock just ran a faster than every Belmont winner not named Secretariat.
Didn't finish all that well (at least visually) but the adjusted time of 2;28.4 st

HP,
Probably agree that Modern Portfolio Theory (MPT) has flaws and probably overrated. (that could be a long debate etc. and not related to racing and wagering)
And you are correct in that MPT is what is taught in Biz schools etc.
It is also what is referenced in most Continuing Ed courses and by regulators (FINRA SEC etc.).
Over my 50 years of playing the races, I have learned much fr

To clarify,
They were charging $40 per/person for a picnic bench at BELMONT this past Saturday. Minimum of 6 thus $240 per/table.
I was in grandstand around the 1/8th poll. Sparse crowd but quite YOUNG for a change.
Frank D would have enjoyed the crowd.
Not sure about Saratoga being part of a State Park. Thought the State of NY owned it??
