David Grening tweet today: "Regarding Jose Lezcano’s ride on Foxtail in Sunday’s first race at AQU. From NYRA spokesman @PCMckenna
, the stewards spoke with Lezcano after the race and “a formal film review is scheduled for Friday.”
At least they are looking at it, but I guess this one was too blatant to ignore. He should get many days regardless of his "explanation" to the stew

I watch a lot of tape and that ride was bizarre to say the least. The horse is hustled from that gate and easily makes the lead but instead is grabbed to sit off the duel. Appears loaded off the pacesetters in the backstretch and joins the leaders 3 wide on the turn with no urging whatsoever. The horse could have easily passed the front runners at anytime but Lezcano is still motionless while loo

Richie,
You should get a lifetime achievement award from TGJB for your posts on this forum, or at least a Thorograph hat/t-shirt.

It looks like another good weekend card at Woodbine today and hopefully a few runners with more than a puncher's chance may be overlooked by the crowd. As of this writing, it appears that the worst of the approaching weather system should skirt the track and leave the turf racing intact.
Race 4 - The charts of Holyfield's (6/1) last race indicate that he hit the gate at the start. Ac

He runs in the 2yo stake at Woodbine tomorrow for Rivelli - 3 have now come back from his debut race. Any best guess on his number?

I would agree with Rich on his assessment of Completed Pass. While he does have fast recent numbers - both were earned at 5 furlongs and he is a 7 year old coming back on short rest off two huge efforts and Lasix-off for this race. Additionally, the trainer has had very limited success shipping to NYRA. The only recent wins I could find were on the dirt at Aqueduct during the Fall/Winter meets.

Thanks - but I didn't cash. The non-effort of DI was rather disappointing - Maggie thought he looked really good in the paddock.

I think it is now or never for Decorated Invader in today's race, and after watching his last race - I believe it is now. He sat a stalking trip in the pocket to the turn in that race, but Alvarado made an ill-advised attempt to move on the rail but was quickly shut-off. He was then caught up in traffic until mid-stretch and by the time he had open air - Delaware was long gone.
He still

It certainly has been an odd week to say the least, trying to decipher the musings of the trainer at issue and whether this time it was another completely innocent oversight or something more nefarious.
Regardless of the results of the split sample test results, and what other revelations may emerge from the relevant parties in the future, bettors have a decision to make tomorrow. How do I be

I am trying to understand how he did not know before yesterday that Otomax contained a steroid derivative.
The vet didn't mention it ever - and he thought not to ask? Especially, with all the positive tests last year, and his heartfelt promise to so better - seriously?

With 18 minutes to post - to say that Colonel Liam seems a little over bet at 3/2 is an understatement. What is wrong with Casse's horse at double digit odds at these weights - if he pairs his last he should be right there.

Fair point, but there is probably more variance and volatility in his day-job than at the track. I have followed him on twitter for awhile - he has written some very interesting posts regarding the management of risk/reward and the search for +EV vis-a-vis betting and the markets during that time.

Handicapping Gulfstream this am - so most of the newly minted 3 year olds are getting 1st-time Lasix, unless of course they are running in the stakes race where Lasix is not permitted for any runners. Therefore, the older horses running in today's stakes race are also all Lasix-off. This will undoubtedly affect the performance of some of these horses running under this new medication protoco

Apparently they will run their races AT the scheduled race post times with no drag for the Championship meet - so far so good with the first three races down. I guess anything is possible this year.

I am also very interested in Extravagant Kid in this race. He has a very capable trainer and still seems to bring his "A" game at age 7, as he has a back number this year which is as fast as the M/L favorites. Also a few observations- he has somehow managed to draw the rail post in his previous three starts at Keeneland. In his last race, he was covered up in a tight pocket inside until

Seems odd having a Saturday in September with no NYRA racing, but what isn't odd these days? Woodbine is offering a good card with full fields, on what should be a clear and sunny autumn-like day in Toronto.
Here are my thoughts on the pick 5 sequence:
Race 8 I will single Afleet Katharine (#2 4/5 ML) in here. I had looked at spreading out this race but you have to narrow down at some

From Dave Grening on twitter yesterday:
Talked to NY stewards about Wayne Potts being able to run in SPA opener. Since there is no ruling against Potts from a state commission, just an in-house decision by Maryland Jockey Club to bar him, he was permitted to run. The stewards said last year, when Marcus Vitali had his license suspended by Delaware Gaming Commission, horses he had entered at S

Here are my thoughts on the late Pick 4:
Race 8- Clayton is the obvious deserving favourite. He was given a bizzare ride in his first start of the year, but came back to run a good TG # off a very good trip last time out. However, I'm int

This could be a very good race for taking a shot at a price, as I doubt Cox has the M/L favorite cranked up for this one.
While the TG pattern looks very good on Alwaysmining, my concern is that he has never run his "A" number outside of Laurel.
Extrordinary Jerry is clearly the fastest horse on TG, but I noted that he ran his best number with a perfect set-up when he closed off

Given that I spent my formative years at the track, the only recollection I have of "Shakespeare" is that he was a fairly handy turf horse.

Good Luck
