Is there a source for the comment has had success on courses labeled soft or yielding or is that an anecdotal observation.
I'm not trying to changeling but it would helpful if there were such a source.

How about this? In addition to really coming down hard on trainers, what if owners and their horses got penalized?
In that case if a horse owned by Sheik Mo or Coolmore or Bill Farish or the Phipps family had a positive test their stable would be banned.
Also we believe that there are effective programs in some regions ( California or an even better example Europe). How come California can, as o

I think I agree that the takeaway on these issue is: pay attention to the tote board after you make your multi-race wagers to find value race by race.
Thanks for the thoughts.

Let's be careful because he is an Unbridled Song and the trick isn't to get them to run fast but to keep them sound.
Let's hope and pray that Bob can keep him together in spite of the stress he endures with this speed.

It will be interesting to see how it goes for this group. We need to track how adaptable they are.

Thanks for the good thoughts.
I also cashed and was alive to 4 in the last leg (1.4.5 and 7) all with similar values.
Fortunately I was A,A,A,B on which I had $2 but the 7 was another A and I had $3 on that combo.So for $ 148 investment I got about 14 -1.
By the way, does anybody know if they reached the guarantied pool?

Did anyone else find it curious that the late pick four on Saturday paid only $1,103 for a buck when it included a $14 horse, a $15 horse and a $23 horse along with the chalk in the second leg.
That adds up to about 80% of the parlay value which is particularly low. Typically pick fours return at least a 50% to 75% premium to the parlay value often much higher (for example the Belmont Stakes pre

I used GGG as a "b" in my pick four (which I hit) off her race at Sunland and completely tossed her performance in the KY Oaks because she went with RA who ran her into submission. The main concern I had here was that it looked again like she might get pace pressure and the race would set up perfectly for JWD (my "a" horse in the race) but without that pressure I really felt s

Not that there is any great value but given all that you need to factor in Mine That Bird. One late run at tiring horses and an off track which he loved at CD.

OK, let's go through this.
Both the trainer and (I believe) the owner have said that their objective is to win HOTY with this filly; so what needs to happen to achieve that?
Right now the top competition for HOTY honors are Einstein, Well Armed (coming back from Dubai to the Santa Anita BC) and Zenyetta. Of course she will beat none of these in the Belmont Stakes.
Therefore from a risk/re

No kidding, I'm already six deep in this one and have left off Proudinsky and the Sheppard and Leparoux horse (28% win% and 2.84 roi)

Good point re: trying different things. Pushing the envelope (Arc) makes things a little more interesting.
The safe "I'm afraid to fail" route is way too prevalent.

I have heard over and over that Jess Jackson is a great sportsman because he raced Curlin as a 4 year-old.
I have always believed that Curlin raced as a 4 year-old because Jackson's partners were in jail and their ownership interest was tied up in the Phen phen court case so any sort of breeding syndication was not possible.
Am I crazy?

An observation based on this race (and others). It seems like GP form has not held up. Dunkirk went backwards, QR got hurt, Theregoesjojo didn't move forward, Imperial Council backed up to a 4 from a 2, Brave Victory from a 2 to an eight (poly?), Santana Six faltered in the Derby Trial and in the older division Albertus Maximus didn't hold form in Dubai.
Off the top of my head the only

Over the last six derbies (since 2003) 45 out of 114 starters have come off tops. This is 39.47% so the majority of the starters are not, in fact, coming off tops. Likewise if you break down the profile of the 18 trifecta horses over the same time period you'll see that 44.4% are coming off tops; 27.8% off pairs; 11.1% off "offs" and 16.7% off an x performance.

Of course 2007 was run on an off track.
In how many other years was the track condition other than fast and does that variable make a difference in the analysis?

One of the skills necessary to cash tickets is understanding which of the top betting selections to leave in.
Be careful of being totally submissive of the betting publics selection based, in part, on the following recent history. Since 2001 a little more than 4 entries per year or 23.4% of the total starters have been less than 10 - 1 but never has a trifecta come home without at least one of

Yonaguska out of a Fortunate Prospect mare. I can't see how he will get 10 furlongs but in terms of a consistent moving forward line that hasn't looked back you must pay attenion to him.
Maybe later for the Ohio or Pennslyvania Derbies he makes more sense but I think I'm going to have use him in the exotics at least. Yeserday,in response to the pedigree question, his owner said

Musket Man has a nice pattern and I watched the Tampa Derby again and it was a measured victory. I believe that he will have no issue running back or improving on the earlier 2s if he transfers his Tampa form (always a question off that quirky track). Chris Block says that Giant Oak will be scratched and sent to Keeneland if it is sloppy (rain is forecast), I think Lord Justice will scratch and r

Any opinion on the chances of Snaafy? He looks to have a nice forward moving pattern and by Kingmambo should get the distance.
He has already shown 4 points of development in a short period of time but only 2 points from his only race in 2008. He gets a competent jockey in Hills but does anybody know anything about this trainer?
Beyond that, I am thinking that Arson Squad and Asiatic Boy de
