And if the Astros had been able to do that then the Royals might not have even been in the WS. But the Royals have just out-executed everybody they've played. I don't think they get enough credit for just how good their defense is. And their bullpen is a total shutdown.

Ok. I saw your earlier comments about GH and AP but I wasn't sure what your play was going to be. But I have it now. Thanks for responding.

Are you planning to offer some handicapping insight into this race? I would like to hear how you're handicapping it.

So the dead arms happened suddenly between the NLCS and the WS? Or maybe the Royals have a pretty good team.

I watched the replay multiple times and I just don't see anything that justified the "bore out" designation.

Haven't seen any mention of Longacres or a Emerald Downs. Surely those are on somebody's list.

I agree. There is no objective way to determine whether any particular path is advantageous or disadvantageous. So it's best to disregard that question when handicapping.

Thanks. That was actually my question. If track speed can change from race to race, why couldn't the rail be changing race to race also? And If the rail can be changing just like track speed is changing, wouldn't that make it impossible to determine if/when there is a dead rail? Or is there some other way to determine a dead rail within the context of a single race?

Question for TGJB: If it's true that track speed can change dramatically from race to race (and I accept your position that it can), wouldn't it follow that track bias can also change from race to race? If it can, then how do you ever assign a track bias for an entire day?

Baseball did it. Run the program without any spectators. Only TV coverage and simulcast betting.

Not entertaining for me. Every time he comes on I switch the channel and watch the golf tournament for a while. I guess somebody must like his crap or they wouldn't keep putting him on. That's disappointing.

If Racing just had a national governing body. They could ban the guy for life and make him sell his horse.

Exactly. Because "normally capable of" is a meaningless term. So I thought I would direct the conversation to terms that are defined. We know that certain equipment helps a horse runs faster than he "otherwise would". The list of such equipment is lengthy. It includes shoes of all types, saddles, bridles, blinkers, tongue ties, nasal strips, and probably most influential of al

Perhaps. Or maybe they just decided to get in step with other jurisdictions. Who knows what their motivation was? We can only speculate. So what's the fuss? CC is apparently running with the strip. We know that. We also know how he has run in the past with the strip. Seems like we know all we need to know. I would be more upset if I was trying to handicap this race and some outside agency (l

A horse can only run as fast as he is capable of. Some things, like the things you mention, can cause a horse to run faster than he otherwise would. But it's not possible for a horse to run faster than he's capable of because if he runs faster then he obviously was capable of running faster. Some things that can cause a horse to run faster than he otherwise would are legal and some are

"tongue ties, blinkers, operations and the like don't allow horses to run faster than their bodies are normally capable of"
The only thing that allows a horse to run "faster than their bodies are normally capable of" is a trailer. Obviously all of these things allow a horse to run faster than he would without them. Else they wouldn't be used. There's absolute

For me, this is a bigger problem with the game than drugs. Trying to handicap a race when you don't have a reasonable approximation of what the final odds will be destroys the game in my opinion. The objective of handicapping is to find the overlays. It's just a guessing game if there are no reliable payoffs posted prior to the race.

Come on guys. If this were a trainer winning like this everybody would be talking about what illegal substances were being used. Surely Rosario must be doing something illegal. What other explanation could there be for such a streak. Let's hear it.
