Well, just another example of horse racing as a sport looking more and more like professional Roller Derby than the Sport of Kings.
So, Dr Blea (one of Baffert's vets) gets accused of 15 cases of violations that lead to the temporary suspension of his Vet license and yet he is allowed to continue in the role of Equine Medical Director while getting the complete endorsement of Scott Chaney

Sadler said his next race will be Met Mile in June in 6 months. Of course, they can change their minds and run him sooner but right now that is the plan. Doing the 6 month between races that he has been on since Day 1 -- maybe Met Mile and then a BC race.
As for good fragile stallions, I agree. I just don't understand the kid gloves approach or as a fan, frankly like it. If he needs 6 mon

I never had a horse this good. Very few have. But, waiting 6 months to run him again either means he is fragile or possibly the many owners (including a few breeders) just want him to crush whenever he runs. If the latter is true, a terrible decision in my opinion. If he is a monster like he appears to be and Sadler wants "to be fair to the horse" -- of course he isn't calling the

I hardly think that keeping my money in my pocket as a bettor or owner or seller will make any difference at all. I wish it would.
Walden's timing with his comment is terrible. Medina Spirit, a healthy 3-year old colt, under Baffert's care dies on the track on December 6. Walden makes his ridiculous endorsement of Baffert as his trainer of choice on December 13. (I am sure a business

Walden: ‘If I Thought Bob Was Doing Anything Wrong, I Would Not Have Sent Country Grammer Back To California’
He is much too smart to make such a stupid statement. As a top horseman and breeder he should be ashamed to say that in light of Baffert's drug positive/breakdown record. This is exactly how and why these trainers thrive. Supported by leaders in the industry. Kind of makes me want

Healthy 3-year old race horse athletes don't just drop dead. Disgusting. Sad. Has to end.
Baffert and his lawyer will allege what? Horsefly bit his ass? Smog in Pasadena did him in? Santa Anita track unsafe? Feed was contaminated? Another groom pissed on his feed?
Anyone else getting tired of this guy? And his lawyer? Baffert should be OVER AND OUT! MF'er.

I listened to their seminar. He and Hardoon dismissed every Japanese horse. I believe none of them (Japan horse) ever won a BC race until this weekend. I took his comment about being sued as tongue in cheek. I don't know him -- just have a feeling he was making fun of his dismissal of their chances.

I enjoyed your post. I attend the races at Del Mar every race day. I believe Del Mar did an excellent job again (last race on Friday an exception but not sure who to fault). I spoke with the DMTC VP and she acknowledged it was a disaster. Other than that -- a joy.
Glad you had a chance to go to Pacific Coast Grill. One of my favorites. The owner also owns The Belly Up. Very fun concert venue i

OK "MAN." You sound like Biden.

From a Chicago newspaper article in 2015 about Del Mar --
Harper said they actually did have an issue once with the slush from the San Dieguito Lagoon creeping up through the dirt. Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron rode a horse around the far turn and returned screaming about the muck along the

So, you say NYRA doesn't know which specific vets the trainers use? OK. Then it gets back to MY point that they just don't care to know. I am not an expert on the specifics of the HISA Bill. It certainly makes good sense though to have Federal enforcement power to govern thoroughbred racing.

I like your vet comment. If there was an "investigating horse doping 101" class, students would be taught to note the trainers who are getting positives AND THEN look at the vets who those trainers use. 100% there is a correlation from the dirty trainers to the dirty vets. But, nobody ever publicly discusses it.

So, for some reason the horse WAS NOT disqualified!!! The owner (Colts Neck Stables) benefits .The trainer (Jorge Duarte Jr) benefits. The only losers are the bettors (as always) and the horses that ran behind the "winner" and of course jockey Mejia. I still find it very unlikely that the jock did this on his own. Possibly, owner and trainer are innocent but the jock would have to be ri

The final decision shouldn't be "officially" official until the horse is disqualified and the trainer's and owner's intents are investigated. Very hard to imagine the jockey did it on his own. Possible I guess, but such a gamble for him if all he was hoping to get was the $3,300 jockey share if the horse won the race.

Hearing date in New York will be September 27. A retired New York Supreme Justice will be the Hearing Officer. Looks to me like they are after his training license. I am not an attorney but I believe if his training license is revoked, his ability to train everywhere in the country will be affected.

Seven horses were caught up in a backstretch spill Sunday at Del Mar that forced the seventh race to be declared null and void.
Early indications were that none of the horses or riders suffered serious injuries, according to a Britney Eurton's report on TVG.
The chain reaction began when Sassy Chasey, a 3-year-old filly ridden by Diego Herrera, appeared to take a misstep early in the s

However, Judge Amon did write that she believed that NYRA may have the ultimate authority to exclude Baffert, as long as the association took the steps to afford him his due-process rights. Attorneys for NYRA told Amon during the hearing this week that they planned to issue a decision on the length and terms of the ban after a meeting on Aug. 11.
“In sum, it is not likely that Baffert will b

I guess we are all "idiots" who have conversations about the most important negative event in Kentucky Derby history -- a probable disqualification due to a banned substance positive (twice tested) -- that follows a disqualification the year before in the Kentucky Oaks race (again twice tested). By the same trainer -- Bob Baffert. Pretty newsworthy most believe. I guess not al

For those who need a proper definition of tool --
Tool: (noun)
1.) A guy with a hugely over-inflated ego, who in an attempt to get un-due attention for himself, will act like a jackass, because, in his deluded state, he will think it's going to make him look cool, or make others want to be like him. The person may even insincerely apologize later on, but only in an attempt to get more

The sport would be so much better if he just went away. You would think that after the media and SNL and just about everyone ridiculed him for being the tool that he is -- he would fade away. Narcissists don't fade away. They need to be taken away in handcuffs.

From Warren Buffet's business partner and Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway --
To us, Investing is the equivalent of going out and betting against the pari-mutuel system. We look for the horse with one chance in two of winning which pays you three to one. You are looking for a mis-priced gamble. That is what investing is. And you have to know enough to know whether the gamble is mis-pri

Great article -- probably too long but there is a lot to write about Baffert and his propensity to flaunt the rules and his lawyer's ability to avoid any consequences. The narrative about all of the horses that have died under his care is very sad indeed (70+). Again, with no consequences.
Perhaps as the saying goes, sunlight is the best disinfectant. Transparency about the workings of an
