Just saw this...
The racing commission agreed to allow the remainder of the original blood sample to be tested for other ingredients found in the Otomax ointment but not in the injection.
However, according to the complaint, on June 1 the “KHRC informed the Plaintiffs that the ‘remnant’ samples had been damaged/contaminated during transport to the agreed-upon testing lab. This has cre

Thanks. His last full year was 1983 - .245. He played less the next three years and his last year was .219. I was averaging a bit with .240. Point is I didn’t see it as a riveting chase of Cobb. That last year was sad.

I always thought it was kind of lame the way he went out “chasing the record†batting .240 for a few years. It was sad to see that after he was so great but it sold tickets and lots of people seemed to go for it. Cobb went out hitting .323

Firenze Fire is now trained by Kelly Breen who has I think...zero positives. I could be wrong but I believe Breen is clean and shouldn’t be tainted by association.
Of course there are still many suspects, but yesterday was a pretty good day and getting rid of Baffert was a big part of it, at least for this fan. Few others in any sport or pursuit could match his combination of arrogance and

I wonder if anyone is paying attention to the upcoming Mess at Monmouth. Jockeys are refusing to ride after NJ passes "no whip" rule. There are rules limiting use of the whip but NJ is going an extra furlong or two here.
Only a few from last year are saying they will ride and a few of those are serving suspensions. They carded Friday's debut, they have jockeys that haven

I don’t know if anyone mentioned it but in the Sunday Times there was a tidbit about Baffert saying he hired a Dr. Hore to ensure compliance after numerous messes. Last week Baffert’s lawyer admitted the doctor had never been hired.

I’m sure we agree more than we disagree.
Maybe it’s Brooklyn, but nobody else tells stories like Baffert and if he insisted on telling groom pissing stories on my block someone would kick his ass. You mentioned Pletcher. I never heard him make up @#$%& like Baffert. If Baffert is a magnet for this it’s his own fault. It was interesting to see the SNL thing because that’s how the gener

All good points. Maybe you can review Brad Cox next? I’m old enough to remember Pistol Pete but he didn’t have Derby runners. Talking about Chad Brown or the other usual suspects does not change anything about Bob Baffert’s ENDLESS string of test failures with top horses.
Many times TGJB will write about watching whether a guy’s horses are running early in the day. Pretty clear Brownâ

Elec you sound reasonable, unlike some others who chimed in. Thing is the Otomax story sounds a little like... the pissing groom story? He just rubs stuff on a horse and then he says “wow I didn’t know what was in it!†And now poor Baffert is being convicted in the court of public opinion by people who don’t understand that there’s a perfectly logical explanation? And the drug isn’t a

I disagreed with something. No potshots. That came from Florida Man. Once this passes I still want to hear from the pissing groom, because somehow that story makes me skeptical of everything Baffert says, despite this review of liver metabolism.

I’m not stopping you from reading them and I respect his knowledge. I didn’t say he knew nothing. I said he didn’t know what the horse was given and he didn’t know how it was administered. Both of these statements are true. You don’t know if Baffert gave that horse a topical medication or if he injected it. And then there are assumptions based on how it was administered. I’m not knock

I guess you’re talking to someone else. Never said I wasn’t a Baffert fan and he didn’t beat me out of any money. You already know everything so I can’t imagine why you waste your time posting, except to let us know you know too much to say out loud. Sounds like you’re in your own Hitchcock movie! If you’re writing a script make sure to include a good groom piss story, those explanati

Silver I’ll say whatever I please. I didn’t say Baffert did anything. I just said this guy has no idea what Baffert did or didn’t give the horse. And neither do you. Assuming delays in the liver breaking something down is a LONG way from anything anybody knows about what really happened. You can read his posts all day. I hope you enjoy them.

You have no idea what he gave the horse.
You have no idea how it was administered.
That’s usually enough to stop most people, but now based on what you don’t know you are piling assumptions on top of your ignorance of any real facts (see first two sentences). Pure speculation based on whatever Baffert threw out there, which could just be his way of covering up whatever it is that he di

I will pass. Looks like lose/lose for horse racing.
If Baffert wins (and I think he will) it will generate some sympathy for him. I will skip the diatribe, this is bad for racing.
If Baffert loses it will amplify all this and they will be talking about drugs (not like us, where one might say he backed up off an effort). After the mess they’ve made with Lasix, this does not fill me with o

I don’t think Baffert is cheating because he needs the money. He’s doing it for two reasons. It works and he can.

I googled it and found he has used the groom pissing excuse thing TWICE. And not in this instance. But I want to ask him about it anyway, and it’s amazing that nobody confronted him about it before. Someone can still ask him about it now.
“So Bob, this time it’s ointment and last time it was groom pee.†And then you ask him questions. About the groom. You know, who what why when how?

Questions like
Who is the groom? What’s his name?
Have you fired him or does he still work for you?
Is it the usual course of business for your grooms to piss on hay? That your horses eat? I thought they were valuable?
As a side note if I give you a horse to train and spend that kind of money and hear about grooms pissing in their stalls you’d be pissing through a fucking tube a

He’s a liar. The ointment story proves it. He knew the pissing groom thing wasn’t enough so like all liars he moved on and made up more. I believe everything JB says about this episode but I also believe what’s being detected is covering up something else. Every year this guy pulls the rabbit out of a hat? No way. He’s racing’s Lance Armstrong.

It’s been a long time since I’ve posted. But now we’re getting into one of my areas of expertise. Lying.
I read what Baffert said - a groom took cough syrup and pissed on hay that the horse ate? This is a lie, and not even a good one. Today we’re on to ointments. He used an ointment on the horse and that’s how it happened. What happened to the pissing groom? Who is he? Was he fired?
